"Do you want one like the players are going to have today?"
"Yes"
"We'll get you this baseball too and have all the players sign this for
you a little later on."
A team hat, a signed baseball - what could be better for any baseball fan?
"What's up James, don't be shy."
"This is Keoni, he's on of our shortstops. He's a shortstop and an
outfielder. Alberto Concepcion is our catcher. Phil Seibel is one of our pitchers."
How about stepping into the batting cage with a few sea dogs players. James was ready to bring home a few pointers.
"Bring your hands up a little bit, down a little bit, right there.
You're squeezing the bat, relax."
"Try to see yourself make contact."
James is fourteen years old and like many teenagers he can get a little shy and while he is usually a young man of few words he opened up a little while hitting and catching.
He puts baseball at the top of his list of favorites, especially on this day. He's looking for a family to take him fishing, hunting and to the occasional red sox or sea dogs game.
Most of all James is looking to be just one of the guys and part of a
family, a family to share an amazing day with..
"I'd tell them it's pretty cool, I'm a pretty good hitter."
