Upcoming Website Changes Flash video players are being migrated to ActionScript 3. Videos will appear in pillar box in 16x9 video frame in anticipation of switchover to high-definition. Weather page will incorporate new weather system features. Special pages for mobile devices. Videos will be available in QuickTime format for viewing on devices not supporting Flash (i.e. iPhone, iPod Touch) General Width of website increase from 940px to 1024px. Designed to be viewed on 1024x768 computer monitors. Written for WebKit open source web browser engine. New naming convention for css and Javascript. All start with WGME_<topic>.css and WGME_<topic>.js where <topic> is the main item the css or JavaScript controls. For example. WGME_news.css and WGME_news.js would control the how the news look and react to the user, respectively. Coloring standardized. Color palette created for graphic elements. The sans-serif font Lucida Grande is the default font used on the web site followed by Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, and default sans-serif font if it is not available. Myriad Pro is the default sans-serif font used for graphics. Garamond Premier is the default serif font used for graphics. Home Page Added AP Newsfeeds. Added Weather Panel. Added Stocks Panel. Stocks Reformatted stocks to appear three across. Index backgrounds will now change to green or red depending on direction of index change. Formatting moved to CSS files. Stocks are not live until Sinclair updates the Stocks program to the new format. Menus Added gradient background to left side menus. Changed highlighting. Menu item is blue when mouse is over it. Yellow when clicked on. CGI Code Changes New versions of PERL code being writting to handle new features. Weather links code first incarnation running. News Summaries Headlines are now clickable and go to the same link as "Read More" button. Headline turns blue when pointer is over it and underlines when user clicks on headline. Photos are now clickable and go to the same link as "Read More" button. Fixed issue with box sizes being too large. Sales/Advertising Added the following adverstisement widths: 1x872px; 2x261px + 350px; 3x291px; 4x218x; 5x174px; and 140px. Added advertisement sections to home page to allow more flexibility and limit damage to home page aesthetics. Added automatic Start/Expiry dates to advertisements. Added rotating capability to advertisement sections on the home page so ads share the same spot. Ads have equal chance of display. |
