Shaw's customers may have had their credit card information stolen
NEW ENGLAND (WGME) -- According to Shaw's website the company that operates Shaw's recently became aware of what they call an unlawful intrusion to obtain credit and debit card information in some of its stores but right now there is currently no evidence of any actual misuse of credit and debit card information.
Shaw's says the breach may have started on June 22nd of this year and ended on July 17th at the latest.
It affects Shaw's and Star Markets stores in Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
They say it's not clear whether cardholder information was actually stolen and they say they believe the breach has been contained.
Shaw's says the investigation is ongoing and it's possible that other breaches could be identified.
Customers definitely want to be keeping an eye on their bank and credit card statements to identify any possible fraud.
