Wednesday’s rain brings flash floods

FRYEBURG (WGME) -- A flash flood watch remains in effect for Northern and Southern Oxford County and that includes Fryeburg.

Just a few weeks ago we saw a river rescue on the Saco River when the river came up quickly and just a little short time ago, 10 people from Massachusetts who had been canoeing and camping were told they had to leave as well over fears the river might rise.

That is a concern on the Saco River.

Over on the coast we had some minor flooding on the Scarborough marsh from the rain and storm surge at high tide.

It was at a usual spot for flooding, where you rent canoes on Pine Point Road.

Also in Scarborough, winds knocked down a tree limb, which fell into power lines on Route 114.

There were no outages. Crews repaired the line without cutting power and over in camp Ellis, an area known for flooding, there were no problems at high tide and no beach erosion to speak of.

More heavy rain is on the way from the massive storm that so far has flooded much of the northeast.
