Walking trails in Portland are closed after Wednesday’s storm

PORTLAND (WGME) -- Some walking trails in Portland are closed after they were washed out by Wednesday night's storm.
The Executive Director of Portland Trails, Kara Wooldrik, says a bridge is underwater on the Stroudwater River Trail near Blueberry Road.

The section of the Bayside Trail that connects back cove to the eastern prom is closed because of a rock slide.

They say safety is their priority.

Woodrik says: Of course we want people to get out on such a beautiful day and exercise and have fun on the trails, but we do want them to be safe and given that we're unsure how the bridge is and the trail is we just want people to avoid that area until they'll be okay.

Portland Trails says they expect the trails to be back open within a week.

Crews are also out cleaning up trails that aren't closed, but are still damaged.
