Pro-life protesters may be getting out of hand again at Planned Parenthood
PORTLAND (WGME) -- Planned Parenthood says protesters are getting out of hand yet again outside their entrance.
They're back on the sidewalk outside the clinic since the city removed the buffer zone, which forced them to protest across the street.
Planned Parenthood says pro-life demonstrators are getting in people's faces again, preventing them from going inside and shouting so loudly, they can be heard inside the building.
The organization now has a police presence outside but pro-life demonstrators say all of those claims just aren't true.
Patricia Nye, Pro Life Missionaries of Maine, says: "Have you seen anything? Have you seen us accosting anyone or doing the things they say we do? It's not true. What was printed in the newspaper today is not the truth."
However, Eric Covey, Planned Parenthood, says: "Last week, protesters using really loud, harassing and intimidating language were so loud that the noise could be heard within the health center by patients in exam rooms on the second floor. The police had to be called multiple times to address those noise violations, they issues warnings including one to a protester who was blocking entrance to the health center."
Protesters say it's the greeters dressed in pink who are acting aggressively and that they're blocking protesters from handing over pamphlets.
