CMP proposes $3 rate increase

AUGUSTA (WGME) -- Your electric bill could soon go up. Central Maine Power wants to raise electric bills by $3 a month and it's now up the Maine Public Utilities Commission whether that plan will go through.

CMP is proposing the $3-a-month increase after dropping a plan to charge homeowners extra for generating their own power with renewable energy resources like solar.

The Maine PUC will deliberate the plan on July 29th.

We'll keep you posted.
