Fairpoint unions 'overwhelmingly' vote to strike
AUGUSTA (WGME) -- Almost 2,000 Fairpoint Communications workers in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont have "overwhelming" approved a strike authorization vote if negotiations do not lead to a new deal when their current contract ends early next month.
Union officials released the results of the voting Saturday morning, blaming the vote is a "direct consequence of management intransigence." Negotiations have been ongoing since April. Voting by New Hampshire union members is not complete but enough results are in to prompt Saturday's statement.
Fairpoint Communications has yet to comment on the unions' vote. Stay with CBS 13 for any updates.
