Final South Portland Tar Sands vote Monday
SOUTH PORTLAND (WGME)-The South Portland city council will take a final vote Monday on the controversial ordinance aimed at keeping tar sands out of the city.
Last week, the city council gave initial approval to the "Clear Skies Ordinance." It would ban loading any crude oil, including tar sands, onto tankers in South Portland.
Supporters said it will help protect the environment. Opponents said the ordinance is premature and will hurt job growth on the waterfront.
