National Guardsman welcomed home in Sabattus
SABATTUS (WGME) -- After spending months in Afghanistan, a Maine National Guardsman is welcomed home - with good eats.
Dozens of people scooped up spaghetti and sat and talked with Master Sergeant James Rancourt at the American Legion in Sabattus on Saturday.
He returned home earlier this month with the 133rd Engineer Battalion. He and 160 other men and women were in Afghanistan for eleven months reshaping, resizing and deconstructing nine different bases.
"This is absolutely fantastic," said MSG Rancourt. "It is quite an honor to serve my country, but it's also an honor to be part of the legion and to have to have this celebration they've done for me."
Master Sergeant Rancourt served two tours overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan.
