Selectwoman convicted of fraud is being sentenced

CHELSEA (WGME) -- A former selectwoman was convicted of extortion and fraud was in court Friday for sentencing.

Carole Swan, a former selectwoman in Chelsea was found guilty of filing false income tax returns and making false statements to get federal workers' compensation last year.

Swan was also convicted for using her position to seek kickbacks from a contractor who plowed the town's roads.
