Soldier's missing dog found alive in Standish
STANDISH (WGME) -- The dog that went missing in Standish when a soldier was visiting Maine has been found, according to a Standish animal control officer.
Specialist Ernest Simard was visiting family in Standish last month when his dog, Bailey, went missing.
Family and friends were hoping to find Bailey before Simard had to return back to Fort Hood. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.
The animal control officer said he received a call Friday of a dog that fit Bailey's description, a German short-haired pointer, living in a chicken coop. When he called her name, Bailey came running.
She will be returned to Simard's family in Standish.
