Address change websites to refund millions

NATIONWIDE (WGME) - If you've moved recently and used an online company to change your address, you could be entitled to a refund. Court documents show the company that runs and, Form Giant LLC, has agreed to pay back $3 million dollars to thousands of consumer across the country. CLICK HERE to learn more.

The documents out of the Ohio Attorney General's Office say consumers paid anywhere from $19.95 to $29.95 to change their address believing they were dealing with the US Postal Service..

The sites are not connected to the USPS.

According to Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine: and have agreed to:
  •     Provide up to $3 million in refunds to be disbursed among all affected consumers nationwide
  •     Disclose the actual full change of address service charge
  •     Disclose that they are not affiliated with the USPS
  •     Pay attorney costs and fees

"It is not illegal for them to charge these additional fees but people need to be aware they don't need to pay them if people go directly to the postal service website," US Postal Inspector Frank Schissler said.

You can change your address for free at the post office or you can pay a dollar to do it online through the postal service.
