UPDATE: Police officer accused of shooting dog, resigns
SULPHUR, LA (WGME) -- The Louisiana police officer who shot and killed a Maine man's dog last week has resigned.
A Maine man says while that officer was arresting him and his friend in Louisiana, the officer shot and killed his dog, Arzy.
The owner maintains that his black-lab mix did nothing wrong.
Officials say the officer involved was once reprimanded for shooting and killing someone in 2010 while he was a state trooper.
Police say the officer resigned before final disciplinary action was taken.
The shooting is under investigation.
