Mother defends sons accused of having sex with underage girls

MEXICO, ME (WGME) -- Two brothers from Mexico are behind bars -- accused of having sex with several underaged girls. 20 year-old Jacob Blood and his 19 year-old brother Izaac were arrested this week, and face several sex assault charges after a five month investigation. As police continue interviewing more potential victims - CBS 13's Katherine Underwood spoke with the brothers' mother this afternoon and has her part of this story. Her two sons have been arrested, charged with having sex with underage girls. Now, Rhonda Blood says she has to stand up for them. She calls what her sons did a "mistake." Mexico Police Chief Roy Hodsdon says since August, the two brothers were giving girls drugs and alcohol and then having sex with them. Police say the girls were never in danger, and have admitted to consuming drugs and alcohol. Blood tells us a couple of the alleged victims were at one time dating her sons. Police however, say even it's consensual - having sex with a minor isn't a mistake - it's a crime. Some of the charges against the blood brothers hold maximum penalties that would put them in jail for decades, something their mother says they don't deserve. She says she hopes they learn from what they did.
