China Rose restaurant closes suddenly in Brunswick
BRUNSWICK (WGME) -- Some Chinese food lovers in Brunswick are looking for a new place to eat. The popular China Rose Buffet closed its doors to customers after mold was found inside.
The doors are locked and the signs are up telling customers to come back in a few weeks as HVAC crews work to clean up the mold.
Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Emerson says he found the mold last Tuesday on the 22nd. The owner closed the restaurant the next day.
He says no one was affected and he's trying to take care of the situation as quickly as possible.
One customer came by saying he's disappointed it's closed but isn't concerned about the mold.
"They haven't lost my trust right now, says Peter Kellowey. They have a pretty loyal clientele in this town and probably in this area. People drive from all over to come to it."
The majority of the mold was found in an old bar area that was being used as a storage space which customers don't have access to.
