Sanford Police say accused child rapist may have other victims
SANFORD (WGME) -- A Sanford man is behind bars tonight for allegedly raping a teenage girl. Sanford Police say there could be other victims out there. Zachary Garrison, 32, is now charged with gross sexual assault, a class A felony.
Police say they've already received some calls other potential sexual assault victims. They say while he has never been charged with sexual assaults in York County, Garrison has been investigated for similar types of incidents in the past and that's what led them to believe this was not a one time incident.
Police arrested Garrison at his home on 2 Manor Circle in Sanford Tuesday. Police say the alleged sexual assault happened at his home on Sunday with a teenage girl who police say did not consent to having sex with Garrison. Police would not go into details of the investigation but say the two were acquaintances.
They say the victim reported what happened to a school resource officer Monday morning, telling the officer that she had been forcibly raped.
Garrison is now being held on $15,000 cash bail. At this point, he has been charged with only 1 count of gross sexual assault.
