Police: New Sharon child reports apparent ODs
NEW SHARON, Maine (AP) -- Police say a child who alerted a relative may have saved the lives of two adults in a New Sharon home who had apparently overdosed on intravenous drugs.
Officers from multiple departments responded to the home just after 5 p.m. Tuesday and found two unresponsive adults. Police went to the home after a child concerned about the well-being of the adults called a family member, and that relative called 911.
State police says it appears the two adults had taken heroin, but the case remains under investigation. One was hospitalized.
The age of the child who called police and the relationship to the adults was not disclosed.
The Maine Department of Health and Human Services was contacted and multiple children in the home were placed with a family member.
