Another round of the flu hits Maine
PORTLAND (WGME) - It's been a deadly year for the flu across the country and here in Maine. Now health officials tell us there's a second wave of the flu hitting the northeast.
The start of the week certainly doesn't feel like flu season, but the Centers for Disease Control says the flu is making a late season come-back. A second, but more mild, round of the flu is making the rounds.
The CDC says Maine, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Delaware are now dealing with widespread flu.
The CDC reports 8,995 people were hospitalized because of the flu during this year's flu season. Eighty-six children died from it, including one in Maine.
This new round could stick around until May.
The CDC says if you can find them, it's not too late to get a flu shot. If you've already had one, you're all set; it's good for the season.
