Teen faces charges in Bucksport crash
BUCKSPORT (AP) -- A 16-year-old Bucksport girl is facing charges in connection with a crash six months ago that took the life of her 15-year-old passenger.
Prosecutors say the girl has been summoned to juvenile court to face charges of manslaughter and aggravated driving to endanger. She is expected to appear in court in May.
The vehicle was headed north on the night of Oct. 3 when it left the road and struck a tree. The passenger, 15-year-old Taylor Darveau, was taken to a hospital where she died. She was a cheerleader at Bucksport High School. The driver was also hurt.
The driver had only had her license for two months at the time of the crash and legally was not allowed to have juvenile non-family members as passengers.
