Breeder ready to rebuild after fire destroys puppy garage

TURNER (WGME) -- After a fire destroyed his garage, Labrador Retriever breeder Brad Varney says hes ready to rebuild.  The fire ripped through his garage Monday night with 33 dogs inside, all but 3 puppies survived.

Its tough you see it all the time, you look out the window and there it is, said Varney.  Lost our garage, barn, kennel, pickup truck and everything else.

On Friday some of the puppies visited the vet, the owner says all 19 surviving puppies are doing well.  They are now staying inside his home with the younger pups until they're ready to head to their new homes.

Varney says every pup has been adopted, one of them even by a firefighter who rescued him.

He found him out in the garage, we could not get to him, we'd gave up, and he walked right up to him, said Varney.

Varney says the family has received numerous calls and emails from people wanting to help along with water and food donations.
He says he plans to rebuild this spring, and started picking up supplies on Friday.

We bought 12, 15 hundred dollars worth of stuff today, saws, grinders, that kind of stuff, fencing material some fences got stomped in the fire, we had to change things around we bought connectors to put fences up, panels up, that kind of stuff, said Varney. You can't just stop, if you do, you're out of business.
