“Appalling” hoax email sent to UMaine Farmington student body
FARMINGTON (WGME) -- The University of Maine at Farmington is trying to find the person behind a hoax email the university president calls "appalling".
Someone sent an email to the entire student body and staff that appeared to be from the provost, claiming the president died yesterday.
UMF President Kathryn Foster sent an email afterwards making it clear shes alive, and saying the university is actively trying to get to the bottom of who sent it.
The email included a link where people could leave condolences, but it instead led to a pornographic website.
