Gov. LePage makes his re-election bid official

AUGUSTA (WGME) -- Gov. Paul LePage is making his re-election bid official. On Friday, he turned in more than 2,500 petition signatures that's required of anyone trying to get on the gubernatorial ballot.

The governor personally turned in the signatures to the secretary of state's office, in front of a small crowd of cheering supporters.

He says he's running to continue what he stated three years ago, trying to change what he calls a culture of "overspending" in Augusta.

Democrat Mike Michaud turned in his signatures earlier this week.

Independent Eliot Cutler is expected to do so soon in what all sides agree should be a very spirited, three-way race.
