Family thankful for lobsterman’s rescue
LISBON (WGME) -- It happened in an instant. Devin Pesce's foot got tangled in a line aboard his family's lobster boat, and he was then pulled into the water with the traps.
Pesce, 19, was dragged underneath the 38 degree water. It was a frantic three or four minutes to get him back aboard and breathing again. Fortunately, he was pulled back into the boat by his dad and a fellow crewmember. Both men had training and knew to perform CPR right away.
Thank God because I wouldnt have a grandson today if they hadn't, said Pesces Grandmother Lionette Flewwellin.
Pesce was in serious condition Wednesday, but said he was feeling much better Monday.
This also marks the end of an exhausting and emotional ordeal for his family. Flewwellin prays every day that her grandson will be safe when he goes to work on a lobster boat.
