Lyman Moore kids hold blood drive

PORTLAND (WGME) -- A group of 8th-graders organized their own blood drive Thursday and got a big turnout.

Students at Lyman Moore Middle School put together the blood drive from 1-7 p.m. They wrote letters to people who they know, asking them to come down and donate. The response was overwhelming and some kids say the experience will last a lifetime.

Teachers say this was the eighth year the school's held the blood drive and that it's one of the top four or five drives in the state each year.
