Woman accused of burning son's hand retains custody of children

THORNDIKE (WGME) -- The Thorndike woman accused of burning her 6-year-old son's hand as punishment is retaining custody of her children.

Police say Michelle Dunworth burned her son's hand last month after he accidentally pushed his sister against the stove to show him what it felt like.

Authorities say Dunworth is allowed to keep her children because there is no one to take care of them.

Dunworth has plead not guilty to charges of domestic violence assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
