Home show tries out new Civic Center

PORTLAND (WGME) -- The Maine Home, Remodeling and Garden Show is back at the Civic Center. And, for a show all about renovations, they're the first to try out the newly renovated arena.

More than 180 vendors sold everything from garage doors to windows to crafts this weekend.

They say Saturday was a record breaking day for attendance for them.

The show is in its 24th year. But, this year their old home saw a facelift. They say the new look has really helped bring people through the doors.

"We're the first event since the Civic Center underwent renovations this year," said Carrie Barron, who organized the event. "We're really excited about it. It's like a brand new facility. It's beautiful. We're so excited to be here."

"It's beautiful," said Janie Webber, a vendor for the booth 'Quilt Ladies,'" "The access for people is easy, in and out. They did a fantastic job with new tile. They did a bang up job."

Organizers say more space meant more vendors this year. They were even able to add a special "Meet the Chefs" cooking series.
