Two NH teens arrested in connection with rape of brain-damaged child
PORTSMOUTH (WGME) -- Police in New Hampshire are calling it a horrific crime and have arrested two teenagers in connection with a rape case involving a brain-damaged child.
This is a case where they need to be brought to justice and answer for what they did, explained Portsmouth Deputy Chief Corey MacDonald.
Vincent Pittore, 18, of Derry, New Hampshire is accused of raping a young girl twice.
Hes charged with two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault.
I can't confirm the age, but I will say the victim is a child, MacDonald explained.
The details in the case are unclear.
Court documents and police reports are sealed because police say they can't risk hampering the investigation.
What were telling the public is the child was the victim of egregious crime, MacDonald said.
Pittore turned himself in Wednesday and is being held on $100,000 cash-only bail.
CBS13 News tried to reach out to his family to give them a chance to explain his side of the story.
Our crew found a No Trespassing sign at his listed address, no one came to the door at what appears to be the family business, and there was no answer on their business telephone line.
These types of cases are horrific and this is certainly not a case where we've taken it lightly, MacDonald told CBS13 News. We've put resources into finding the people responsible for this."
For more than a week, the second suspect in the case has been on the run.
Detectives say at about 1:30 Friday afternoon, 19-year-old Zachary Patterson of Raymond, New Hampshire turned himself in.
Patterson is not charged with rape, but faces a slew of misdemeanors in connection with the incident.
If you have any information about this case, youre asked to call Portsmouth Police Detective Kristyn Bernier at (603) 610-7529.
