Celtics waive Kris Joseph
The move came as a surprise to the Maine Red Claws; their star player and Celtics draft pick is now gone.
The Celts waived Kris Joseph Sunday evening, the day before his contract would be guaranteed. Boston selected Joseph 51st overall in the 2012 NBA Draft.
Joseph was averaging over 17 points a game in 10 games with the Red Claws. He was also called up to the Celtics five times, playing sparingly in six games.
The move leaves Boston with only 13 players on the roster, leading to speculation that a trade is looming.
If Joseph clears waivers and elects to sign a D-League contract, he will automatically return to the Red Claws. This move is unlikely.
