WCYY DJs Suspended
Three of the on-air personalities at one of Maine's most popular radio stations have been suspended indefinitely. According to management at WCYY (94.3/93.9 FM), DJs Rob, Mark Curdo, and Joey Disco, skipped commercial breaks all weekend, and ran a commercial-free weekend, which occasionally serves as a programming decision from WCYY management. The company says the DJs "took it upon themselves to air another commercial free weekend, and although the employees claimed a mis-communication with management, their actions are a clear violation of company policy and an obvious case of insubordination." The company is asking listeners not to call their listener line asking questions about the suspensions. The station has also placed large red "X" marks over the DJs faces on the station's website while they are on suspension. The DJs have not commented on their suspensions.
