Toll Plaza Problems
Engineers presented a report Thursday on replacing the York toll plaza on the Maine Turnpike.
The exisiting plaza was built in 1969 and is now 15 years beyond its structural lifespan.
A general engineering consultant recommended a short list of possible sites for the construction of the new toll plaza within the limits of the town of York.
The possible sites include mile marker 7.3, a site just over a mile north of the current plaza.
The other sites include mile marker 8.7 and then one slightly further at mile marker 9.1
The new and smaller toll plaza design, will allow it to be built at any of these sites without displacing any homes.
