Comment: Our phone went out a couple of weeks ago and we had someone out to the house the next day to fix it at no charge. I can't complain with the service I received. from Chesterville by Julie

Comment: I think Fairpont should of done a test run before going full steam ahead. Instead they just want ahead and it backfired for all of their customers. from Portland, Maine by Jennifer

Comment: WE CANCELLED OUR PHONE SERVICE BECAUSE IT WAS SO BAD from WESTBROOK by BARBARA

Comment: I have had Fairpoint for phone & DSL since 2006, I have had nothing but excellent service from them. They are honest, they keep appointments for installation and they have always helped me if I had a technical issue. I don't work for them, but I do like the service that they provide. Compared to Time Warner or Verizon they are #1 in my book from Naples by Kevin

Comment: i think that verizon left some flaws behind.i personably have not had any problems with them.verizon on the otherhand stuck fairpoint, with a lot of problems. from augusta,me. by sandy

Comment: I have used Fairpoint for phone service and hi speed internet service for about 2 years. I live in a pretty remote area where there are only 2 families that live year round on the private camp road. I have heard all the complaints but I'm lucky I guess and have been trouble free and very happy. from Chesterville Maine by Ted

Comment: After spending hours on hold back in March/April and never talking to anyone, I've asked them in writing to call me four times. My bill is incorrect and they refuse to call me to correct it! from Falmouth, ME 04105 by Gary

Comment: It's been ok for me, but some have experienced everything from inconveniences to nightmares. from W. Farmington, ME by Tom

Comment: If I had more dependable Cell Phone coverage I would get rid of Fairpoint for good. by Gary

Comment: Fairpoint has had months to get their act together and has failed to deliver despite all the promises. I hold the PUC equally to blame though because a panel of 3 people shoved this down our throats in spite of multiple warnings of Fairpoint's problems before the takeover. As far as I'm concerned Fairpoint owes it's customers a substantial rebate for services not rendered. from Portland by Rob

Comment: They lied from the start, and lied to me personally several times... we went to Time Warner and the service is great. We would return if Verizon came back. from Sabattus by Glenn

Comment: We changed to time warner because of fair point poor ssevice...Get time warner it is great..... from wiscasset maine by Art & Deb

Comment: Fairpoints internet services were so poor I switched to a different provider after numerous phone calls with fairpoints technical support, that got nowhere and solved none of the issues. from china maine by shami

Comment: Higher billing and increasing fustration for me and my family. I'm transfering all my services to Time Warner Cable as of the 27th. I will never speek well of them to those who ask. from Portland Me. by Mr

Comment: I cancelled service with them in April due to problems that never got resolved. When I called to have my service disconnected, I was told over and over that they could disconnect my internet but not the phone. The day after my service was finally disconnected, I received a letter welcoming to FairPoint and thanking me for signing up with FairPoint. I have had a credit of $17.00 since April and have received a statement each month since. This month my statement had a notice that if not paid, my account would be referred to a collection agency. It is obvious they do not have a clue as to what they are doing. from Waterville by Rick

Comment: with all the problems, all I see is they're passing the buck. Just recentlt the comment was made that the problem iis in the computor end. The computor is only as good as the one-or ones feeding the information into them in a timely matter. If they're not doing this in a timely matter, then yuo're gonna have many problems. They took on the job and if they can't provide the service --' well, gramps had a comment- If ya can't cook, get out of the kitchen. Thanks "T' from gardiner from w. gardiner,me. by tony

Comment: I miss getting my email on a regular basis from Woolwich by Herb

Comment: FairPoint is horrible both in physical service, and also in customer service! Since the they took over I have spent over nine hours on the phone trying to pay my bill to stop disconnect notices! No wonder they are ready for bankruptcy! It is not the reps fault, but as you speak with them and even supervisors, none have a honest answer to give! Aside from that fact, the service has declined; my DSL performance is horrible! We in Maine got done in again by our "brains" that regulate these things! from Brunswick, Maine by Tom

Comment: FairPoint has been overcharging me for years (by their own admission!). However, every time I tried to work out the problem with them, they kept on giving me the run-around. I finally got tired of their abusive behavior and switched to a different phone company. from Gorham by Shannon

Comment: " F.P. is the worst telecomunication company that this state has ever endured! Too many issues to list. Maybe we can bring back AT&T, or Bell South! from SOUTH PORTLAND by Gary E.

Comment: All fairpoint has done is over the past few months is say sorry it's not our falt. Who's falt is it from Sidney by Dennis

Comment: My experience has been with incorrect billings including with extra charges and duplicate month charges. Also, I called to have my mothers phone disconnected and she is still being billed for three months of phone service after she had moved from the home where the phone was! from York by Suzanne

Comment: I called Fair Point in early June to move my line to a new location and they basically played me all the time and never did anything from me, so I ended up canceling the service they provided and I turned back to my mobile line again. from Rangeley, ME by Sergio

Comment: Even though I am not a customer, I know of alot of people in downeast Maine that have only Fairpoint as an option for connection to the rest of the world. Fairpoint has clearly NOT kept their agreement with no service interruption so they must pay the consequences that our State puts forth. from Auburn, Maine by Annemarie

Comment: my phone bill is wrong every month & I have to call to get it straightened out !! Their service stinks !! from Alfred, Me by Ellen

Comment: i get all my e-mails whenever i want them, try not putting yourseft under their web site i`m on yahoo from farmington by david

Comment: On July 14th my office was contacted by Fairpoint to verify that my office number had been turned on for a residential phone service. We explained that Fairpoint had contacted an accounting firm and that they should not take the number. The next day we lost phone service and it took over three weeks for Fairpoint to resolve the issue and restore phone service. Fairpoint should be forced to sell the phone service back to Verizon from Alfred, Me by Richard

Comment: Tried to get phone service at my seasonal cottage in St George. With Verizon, I called and had service the next day. With Fairpoint it took about 6 weeks!! from Stoneham by Gail

Comment: So when do we get to rate Time Warner. It seems like all you do is have stories covering how poorly Fairpoint is doing, but you never discuss any other utilities?? Why is that????? from Gorham by Fawn

Comment: I had so many problems with their billing that I dropped them and now use Vonage.I have not had any trouble and would never go back to Fairpoint. from Naples by Brenda

Comment: They were fine, then it got really bad, and now, well it's so confusing that everyone should just give up on FairPoint by Katie

Comment: In June 2009, I moved from one apartment to another in Augusta, ME. On June 10, 2009, Fair Point excuted an order for the discontinuation of residential phone service from my former apartment and transfer of service to my new resident to be effective on June 15, 2009. June 15th came and went and my residential phone service remained connected at my former apartment. Between June 15, 2009 and July 14, 2009, Fair Point still had neither disconnected my phone service nor transferred service to my new residence. Numerous payhone calls to Fair Point Customer Services were made asking reasons for Fair Point's failure to fulfill a simple work order for transfer of my residential phone services. On each occasion, Fair Point Customer Services Representatives could neither answer my questions nor provide information as to when I might expect installation of my phone services at my new apartment. Their response was that disconnection of my former phone service and transfer of services to my new residence would be done as soon as company technicians could do so. As a result of terrible Customer Services and failure by Fair Point to fulfill a simple work order for transfer of residential phone service over a 5 week period, I was required to report problems I was experiencing with Fair Point to Maine's Public Utility Commission (PUC) for investigation and resolution. Ultimately, I was required to subscribe to residential phone service offerings by Time Warner Cable effective on July 15, 2009. But this is not the end of the horror story. To understand the story, I have to remind you that residential phone service with Fair Point at my former residence were terminated effective on June 15, 2009 as per the original disconnect work order. On July 31, 2009, I received a Fair Point billing statement in collection of charges for the period June 15, 2009 and July 14, 2009 (for the period that my phone service remained connected at my former residence and not transferred to my new residence. This constitued fraudulent billling on the part of Fair Point. I have now filed formal complaint with the PUC for full investigation of the billing issue. Don't go away just yet because the story is still not over. I contacted Fair Point Customer Services regarding the questionable billling. I was informed that Fair Point would correct my account to reflect a zero balance due. Fair Point indicated that they would mail me a written statement to reflect that no balance was due on my account effective as of June 15, 2009. However, several additional weeks have passed and I have not as yet received any further communications from Fair Point. My question now is will Fair Point send me but another billling statement for charges I do not owe; if so, the story will continue and I will have to file but another formal compaint against Fair Point with the PUC. I guess this is what you would call a "Never Ending Story" with Fair Point. So, if you ask how do I rate Fair Point's performance in Maine, my answer would be "terrible". Yes! I am a very dissatisfied with Fair Point and glad that I am no longer a subscriber of Fair Point residential phone services. from Augusta, Me 04330 by David

Comment: Never have had a problem- great service from Monmouth Maine by Judy

Comment: I have no problem I get my bill on time and I pay it ahead of time. from portland by Gloria

Comment: Story recommendation. Go back in your news stories prior to Fairpoints approval to replace Verizon. Concerns and controversy issues were: Can they afford it? Can they handle it? The State said "yes", why?? Now Maine is complaining? Give me a break. Vermont did the same thing. from Auburn, ME by Aline

Comment: !/2 of 1 star from SACO, ME by Wilhelm Scream

Comment: I had to wait for 5 days to have internet fixed when lighting hit it, and we run a business! from palermo by Brenda

Comment: How about a sixth choice for this list? "Crap". Because that's exactly what FairPoint's performance is so far.......nothing but crap (and that's stating it mildly). Their billing system is garbage. When my girlfriend and I first moved into our new home back in November 2008, we got landline service with FP, and indicated that we wanted paperless billing.....to this very date, we are still getting a monthly bill in the mail. And, the bill always shows a totally different amount due than what the website shows. But when we are actually able to get thru to FP on the phone, the so-called Customer Service reps always try their best to give us the runaround, and offer up lame excuses for the discrepancies in the billing. FP is, without a doubt, the absolute worst company that we have ever dealt with. from Lewiston, ME by Marc

Comment: I was not happy with FairPoint so I switched to my cable co. phone. If you don't like something make a change by JUdy

Comment: Like many of my friends and family, I ditched my land line for a cell phone. Not only can I not afford both, but I refuse to pay for services from a company who offers excuses rather than solutions. from Boothbay by Stella

Comment: fairpoint has been troubled since verizon left.. i feel blame should be put on the puc and the governor for allowing fairpoint to bite off more than they could chew...fairpoint wasn't allowed to test the systems before the cutover..it is ashame the public hears one side of the story and it's all negative.. fairpoint is a large employer and lots of jobs could be at stake if something isn't done to remedy the problems! from portland by bekka

Comment: failed to show for appointments, lost work orders, I lost business because of the incompetence of this company. from Old Orchard Beach by John P.

Comment: I had problems getting some of my services back. It took over 3 months to get my long distants added back to my account. The PUC should have never allowed the sale to go through. Fairpoint should also have done the cutover in stages not all 3 states at once. from Brunswick by Karen

Comment: They SUCK! from freeport by Jon

Comment: Haven't experienced any major problems except for lots of spam coming through to email. from Cushing by Deborah A.

Comment: If I could choose worse than terrible I would. from Southport, ME by Sara

Comment: Unknown number when go to pay by phone. "If incorrect please enter correct number" Real person at Business S&S-has correct HOME no. Told by FP "must be vectoring problem". Anyone know what vectoring is? Also told unknown number not real-yet I get a busy number. Says will connect me with billing. "They will have the info." Then put (attempt) to Residential Service. We all know what that is like; so I hung up. Can anyone help me. from Windham, ME by Sandra B.

Comment: can't complain they have done everything they said they would for me keep them here they are doing better than verizon from portland, me by john

Comment: Fairpoint Classic is horrible, you can never get to someone in an emergency from Augusta by Fred

Comment: they suck from greene, me by paul

Comment: I Had Fairpoints service disconnected in May and we were still getting bills in June and July For monthly charges including toll calls and we went to time warner cable for better service. When calling Fairpoint to ask questions about billing I was put on hold for 24min and 55 sec and got a rude response.I had to call the Maine P>U>C> and was told I was one of hundreds of callers a week. After calling the M>P>U>C> the bills have stopped for now .But I was Told crediting back the overcharges was a new ballgame from bridgton, maine by bruce

Comment: I am a business customer, have been about 12 years. I have had a yellow page ad almost that long costing over $100 per month. You think they would let business owners know they would be changing the company that was publishing their phone books. Not so. I received my new FairPoint phone book today and my ad was NOT in it. Then to ad insult, I got my phone bill today also and was still being charged for my yellow page ad. I tried to call the business office number in the new phone book and after pushing buttons for the first few minutes, I was told I did not have an account, so was transfered to another person, only to find out that person could not help either, so was transfered again. Finally after 4 trasnfers and almost 30 minutes I got NO where! The last transfer was right back to the orignal number I dialed the first time! No wonder they have issues, to many chiefs and not enough indians, the right hand don't know what the left hand is doing. It's going to take more than just a 3rd party to look at things and evaluate. The evaluation time is over, it's time to fix it! from Raymond, ME by Glen

Comment: I think it really sucks. I was told by them my phone was going to be connected the 31st of july and about two weeks later they finally got me on. I also had trouble with them with my modem. They said I should get that the same time and I called to see where it was after two days and they didnt ship it yet. So finally today august 13 I finally got everything I need. from Rumford/Maine by Jason

Comment: I lost my Verizon email for a month during the switch over.....it was suppose to be days and all I heard was excuses why it didn't work. from Auburn by Norman

Comment: PUC should revoke their license and put Verizon back in charge. by Eric

Comment: They never had any business trying to manage this market and anyone who did not see that going in is negligent. from Somersworth, NH by Candace

Comment: We have not experienced any operational or admin issues. from Brunswick by Brent

Comment: I am punished if I do not use long distance calling each month by $10.00 and pay $8.00 for caller id,I have a cell phone for those,so pulling landline out as many of us are in O.O.B by Donna

Comment: We have never had a problem. from winthrop by Shanna

Comment: I quit them even before they bought Verizon. Their customer service is the worst I ever encountered in my lifetime and I'm 70 plus. from Poland/ME by Robert
