67.34% Yes
31.83% No

Comment: Its a free country from Scarborough by Brian

Comment: Not illegal. by Justin

Comment: It's a non-problem created by a wind bag. So 1 gun in how many years bought from UH was used in a crime. A non-problem that needs no fix. by Ann

Comment: we have all the gun control we need! from Freeport Maine by verne

Comment: just what uncle henerys says "people kill people guns dont kill people from biddeford maine by b

Comment: they are not argesing the real problems, because the ones that wanna get these guns will find them else where! most of the people in Maine are respondable able people from Scarbrough, ME by R

Comment: criminals who buy guns to use in the commintment of crimes will always do so: they're low life criminals! Attacking "Uncle Henry's" will only hurt the majority gun owner: law abiding citizens with a legal right to purchase and own firearms. Uncle Henry does'nt commit gun involved crime, criminals do; and we need to be armed and ready to defend ourselves against such criminals. from Bowdoin, ME by Eric

Comment: people that are going to commit crimes will get a firearm even if they have to steal it. It,s time for the honest person to stand up for their right to bear arms" from Oxford by Dick

Comment: Absolutely. People need to be responsible for their own actions... The second amendment secures our God-given right to defend ourselves. from Sabattus by Glenn

Comment: only if "Uncle Henry's" does a background check on every gun sold. If they don't, then I think they should be held responsible if the guns are used for criminal activities. from Brunswick, ME by Jeanne

Comment: The "bad guy" will get his guns one way or another so why punish the "good guy" by making it harder for him to get a fire arm for his pleasure of hunting or target practice. from Maine by Milton

Comment: i don't have aproblem with that. what about archery? you can kill a person much quieter! stop the private sale of auto's! they can be used as weapons as well! and the beat goes on. from rockland by walt

Comment: not with out a back ground check I would not sell a gun unless I knew the person I would not sell to a stranger from Lyman by Dennis

Comment: Get rid of the people that are caught useing a gun in a crime, and you won't have to worry about gun sales. Its not the guns that's the problem, its the criminal. from Harrison, ME. by Arnold

Comment: I think Uncle Henry has the right thoughts but a little twisted. Yes, people kill but they should not be able to easily obtain weapons. If someone has good intentions in buying a gun then they do not mind having a background check done. Only bad people mind background checks. from Saco, Maine by Lynn

Comment: Why Punish All The Law Abiding Citizens; Let's Enforce All The Existing Gun Laws And Prosecute The People Using Guns In The Commission Of A Crime from Freeport, Maine by Garry

Comment: people are going to get them no matter what. guns dont kill people kill people I think its fun to go shoting its a sport like anything else people need to get over it and think . most people can aford to get them from uncle henrys and not the gun shops. drugs dont get sold in uncle henrys and they kill and are every where from Greene by Melissa

Comment: it taking our right away to sale things that we want to sell.it no different from having a yard sale? from madison maine by penny

Comment: I bought & sold hundreds of guns in my life without any problems. Are you going to stop private sales of cars because there might be a drunk driver who kills someone? Cars kill more people than guns do. Are you going to stop selling knives because someone gets stabbed? Guns dont kill people, people kill people. If you try to sell a gun at KTP or Cabelas they dont even give you half the value. from Biddeford, Maine by John

Comment: because you cant do a back ground check on the person buying it from maine by tammy

Comment: Private sales are not the cause of violence with firearms. Its the people who disrespect the right we have to own weapons. If people want to sell guns to a private party then they have every right to. from saco maine by zach

Comment: whats the issue! all the libs getting paranoid!just because theres over 150 million registered gun owners and even more through private sales and on the streets must be getting them worried. There is more armed citizens then there are military and law enforcment combined. I think that should send a strong message to the government that we enjoy our 2nd amendment rights and we WILL fight to keep them! from Casco by Rick

Comment: Criminals will always have access to guns. Honest people of goodwill would never use a gun against a person unless their life, family or property were threatened. by Lee

Comment: CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF MAINE, Article I. Section 16. To keep and bear arms. "Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms and this right shall never be questioned." What part of section 16 of the Maine Constitution needs explaining? by Brian

Comment: Good for Uncle Henry's for defending their magazine. They are 100% right that people kill people not guns. So if someone commits manslaughter with an automobile bought through Uncle Henry's is that next? Let's put the responsibility where it lies... in the hands of the shooter. from Biddeford by Andy

Comment: I am a firm believer in the 2nd amendment ... this is just another ploy of the anti gun liberals ! from boothbay harbor by jim

Comment: Private business is PRIVATE. Our Big Brother government controls too much of our private lives telling us what we can do in our homes, our cars, our workplace, our Churches and our schools. This is one place that the Nanny government doesn't have a say and it should stay that way. from Damariscotta by Gina

Comment: law abiden people should be able to buy and sell guns by dennis

Comment: The sale of guns should follow a regulated process. Background checks and registration of the gun should be done. from Lewiston,ME by Debra

Comment: There has got to be some control somewhere. Those who disagree haven't lost a loved one because someone with uncontrollable issues found it easy to pick up a firearm. The remark "People kill people; guns don't kill people" is wearing thin. People do kill people....so why facilitate it by handing them a gun? Common sense should dictate here. from Augusta, ME by Cheryl

Comment: Absolutly! Mainers have been swapping and selling guns through Uncle Henry's since it hit the shelf. If someone breaks the law, punish the criminal, not the rest of us. They should punish the straw buyers who are residents of Maine too. Why don't you guys tell the whole story? from Monmouth, ME by John A

Comment: Whats next? Stop Uncle Henry's from selling a knife, baseball bat or car - they've all been used in crimes as well. This is another effort to incite hysteria in the public by the media and penalize the thousands of law abiding gun owners who have sold or purchased firearms through Uncle Henry's. from Raymond, ME by George

Comment: Gun laws only further restrict law abiding citizens, this accomplishes nothing as usual. Back ground checks for private citizens are a fee based service offerd by most gun dealers Just call. from Poland me by Rob

Comment: Absolutely. Prosecute the Criminals and put them away for good. Uncle Henry has it right. People kill people, not guns. from Cumberland, ME by Gerry

Comment: Don't penalize those of us that respectfully use guns for recreation and self protection Mainers have been buying legal guns and selling them private sale in Maine since... before time! Uncle Henry's did not sell the guns, and the certainly did not pull any triggers! The media needs to put efforts into areas that make sense... You commit a crime.. get ready to do the time! Increase penalties for crimes committed with the use of firearms, or weapons. Maybe if people that commit crimes with weapons were facing life in prison, they might think twice. But we all know people with the frame of mind to commit a violent crime .. don't have the ability to think logically about their own life..Why would they care about yours or mine!? from North Berwick by Steve

Comment: we have the right to bear arms in the us. in the wrong hands they kill most people use them for hunting and defence from maine by raymond

Comment: Stopping private gun sales is not going to fix the problem. Stronger punishment for the offenders instead of a slap on the wrist. I am not suprised that Mass puts the blame on the freedom Maine citizens enjoy with the 2nd ammendment instead of going after the real problem Criminals. from Whitefield, Maine by Ricahrd

Comment: I honor our forfathers who fought for our ammendment rights.I respect Uncle Henry's for sticking by their guns. from Phippsburg by Maurice

Comment: THIS is the only gun violence that has ever happened in Mass. i think not. How many people are killed by drunk drivers maybe we should close every store that sells alcohol. And why do we have repeat offenders. Lets keep these people in prison or better yet Dare i say the death penalty for those who take a life.millions of people use guns in a responsible manner lets get rid of the ones who don't. Punish the guilty not the innocent. And if i remember a news cast from a few years ago $50.00 bucks will get you a handgun in boston at night in an ally. Story by channel 6 a few years back. so getting them legally or not will not change anything in Mass from Monmouth by Mike

Comment: The liberals are slowly taking away our rights. Enjoy what you have now, It will soon be gone , if they get there way. Law abiding citizens should not be penalized because of criminals actions. They need to enforce the gun laws we all ready have, not make up new ones. from waterford maine by chris

Comment: This is a private sale and we do not need anymore goverment red tape just to pay for some other porgram that we can not afford now. from Boothbay Harbor Me by Barry

Comment: Yes it is STILL legal to buy & own a firearm in this country!!! by Joey

Comment: Yes, why let Massachusetts ruin it for the rest of us? If guns kill people, my keeborde makes speling mistaches! For those doing private sales, Caveat Emptor/Caveat Venditor! from Lewiston by Hal

Comment: absolutely from oxford by dave

Comment: Under our Second Amendment, private gun sales absolutely should be unregulated. It should be the responsibility of the buyer to make sure he is in full compliance with any regulations regarding whether and where he may own, transport, keep and use a gun. In a free country, this should not be the seller's responsibility. Uncle Henry's, or any other advertising media, absolutely should not be prohibited from listing items that are for sale legally. If society prohibits media from advertising guns for sale, what are they going to prohibit next? Gun crimes are caused by criminals, not by guns, and especially not by Uncle Henry's! I find it absurdly distasteful that our news media would even pose this question in this way. It reveals a liberal "gun control" bias, and shows a lack of intelligent thought on the part of the WGME staff. from Readfield, ME by Dennis

Comment: Why not, they sell everything else there, why should they be singled out? from Windham, Me. by Ken

Comment: I'm getting tired of this "Nanny says you the populace can't be trusted so we want to know EVERY move you make" attitude. from Dresden by James

Comment: Lacks a background check, and that's BAD!! from SACO, ME by Wilhelm Scream
