Comment: She acted very unprofessional. from North Turner by Melanie

Comment: If she is standing by the excuse that she is doing what the board told her to do than I think the board should also resign along with her. by John

Comment: She obviously was bias with who she didn't give diplomas too.....time for her to hit the road! from Scarborough, ME by Craig

Comment: Yes she should resign from standish by Vickie

Comment: What is wrong with Seniors being excited about their graduation? What is wrong with them waving? I totally think she should resign. from South China, Maine by Tammy

Comment: I think that she should be fired and buy the looks others need to go to like some of the school board she never said she was sorry during the meeting she has been trouble for a long time from standish by Timothy

Comment: Absolutely!! Ms. Lukas demonstrated poor judgement and shouldn't be in charge of young people. A superintendent needs to know how to balance her role and not use it as a source of control. from Falmouth by Michelle

Comment: Totally unprofessionl fire them all!!! How would they like their pay taken from them!! from Bath Maine by stephen

Comment: She ruined the entire ceremony for the students who have put 12 years of their life toward shool working hard. They deserve better and a better memory than a woman disrespecting the entire senior class and their parents. I thnik she should step down on her own and if not hte school board should fire her! from Durham/Maine by Daniel

Comment: For someone to throw there mother a kiss, most likely thanking her for helping him to accomplish something this important, is in no way violating any misconduct rule. Is this one more thing that the school system is going to do away with? Being allowed to blow your parent a kiss during or after any game, concert, play, etc... from Windham by Melissa

Comment: The superintendent action was inappropriate. What was she thinking? According to the article I read in the paper this am, the school boards only action taken was to create a graduation committee. Get rid of them also! from Brunswick by Bob

Comment: yes she should resign.she needs an attitude adjustment. every graduation always should have alittle fun.pretty bad ,when your school board have a problem with a young man throwing his mom a kiss.she definately, does not belong a superintendent.hats off to the youg man ,who thinks that much of his mom to blow her a kiss. from augusta,me. by sandy

Comment: Graduation is a happy occasion, but certainly not a comedy act, and it should not be controlled by a few students who have been allowed to change rules as they see fit. To the irate parents: "This is a small thing...GET OVER IT!!" from Portland by Nancy

Comment: The students knew the rules and chose to break them. from Yarmouth by Ann

Comment: Do to her not applying the rules equally I feel she should resign. from Belgrade Maine by Linda

Comment: This superintendant shows absolutely no compassion for her kids. She should take responsibility for her actions at the very least and show respect for other opinions. from South Portland by Shanna

Comment: and learn how to be more of a human being, and get a life. from Bar Mills by Richard

Comment: Last time I knew graduation was supposed to be a time of celebration. If she thinks that graduation was not dignified ahe should go to a college graduation. When I graduated college we had beach balls and an inflatable dinosaur. from Standish, ME by Jennifer

Comment: if she doesnt resign, then terminate her.and hold another graduation ceremony, giving all the students their diplomas again from lisbon falls me by charles

Comment: school board must be changed to they are part of probelms. from standish by alan

Comment: The students were there to accept the diploma they EARNED! Withholding what they rightfully earned because the students were excited, and showed there excitement and sense of pride in his or her accomplishments is appalling. Anyone whose position is to support and guide students through the education process to succeed to the next level of adulthood shouldn't be so cold and inflexible. I think she should learn how to harness her obvious need, and ability to control in a more appropriate setting. Thank you for your time. Tammy from Cape Elizabeth by Tammy

Comment: I THINK SHE SHOULD GO THAT THE BOARD IF THEY DON'T GET RID OF HER SHOULD ALSO GO. HE WAS SHOWING MORE RESPECT TOO HIS SCHOOL AND HIS FAMILY (MOTHER) THAN THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE. IF I WAS THIS FAMILY I WOULD SUE EVERYONE PERSON INVOLVED SEPARTELY PLUS THE DISTRICT BOARD AS A WHOLE IF THEY WANT TO BACK HER. from LEWISTON, ME by ROGER

Comment: I am a resident of Standish. I have no connection to the schools. However my tax dollars in part pay Ms Lucus' salary. I understand that Ms. Lucus was most likely under alot of stress during graduation as what happens is a reflection on her, and at the time she may have thought she was making the right decision, but now that it's over and she can reflect plus after hearing all the parental complains, she sticks by her decision and thus making a second serious mistake. the student body, the parents and the citizens deserve an apology, and if she can't own up to her mistakes then she loses all respect, How effective can she be in her job now with this lack of respect from the community? The fact that she can't lighten up and let a graduation be happy and fun also reflects on her. from Standish,Maine by Alta

Comment: Yes she was not very nice from Rumford Maine by KRISTY

Comment: I would prefer for her to be fired but she should at least resign. Her response that she was given a directive to "nip it in the bud" reminds me that Deputy Sheriff Barney Fife use to say that to Andy on the Andy Griffith Show. Like Barney, Ms. Lukas seems to have gotten carried away by her position of authority and looked at the rules of graduation in black and white terms with no area of gray. Too bad, there seems to be no Andy to temper her decisions. Ms. Lukas should remember that part of being an educator is that you need to teach the values of compassion, and respect for the individuality of a person whether that student is valedictorian, the class clown, or a student coping with overwhelming social stressors. I feel badly for any future student that has to attend any school under her regime. She comes across as a very bitter woman with an ax to grind. from Lewiston/ME by Abigail

Comment: She should be fired for her actions. from Hollis by Jean

Comment: I actually think she should be fired! from Saco, ME by Russ

Comment: She went too far. This is a celebration for these kids. From all the videos I saw, I didn't see anything out of line. My daughter graduated from Biddeford High School this year and it was beatiful. My daughter blew a kiss a me and said thank you. What's the big deal. I am so proud of her. Superintendent needs to go. She doesn't care about the kids and it looks more like a jail than a celebration. from Biddeford by Jonna

Comment: She thinks it is all joke by the smile on her face in the TV reports from hollis ctr by J.

Comment: she spoiled the evening for seniors and parents.I've been to many graduations and I see no harm in blowing kisses to loved ones.It surely isn't disruptive. from Whitefield,Me by Florence
