Comment: I am so disgusted that the legislature and the Governor ignore the voters wishes. The voters are the ones who got them into office and this is the way they thank them. We have voted against this bill 3 times, and the thought that our vote doesn't matter makes me sick. The bill itself makes me even sicker. Marriage is between a man and a woman, there was nothing to vote about. It is natural, it is biblical and it is right. What a perverse state we have become. We can expect the wrath of God on our state. from Standish by T

Comment: How could the Governor of the State of Maine stoop so low as to do this is beyond my understanding. Where are his morals. We vote for Politicians and they do what they want to do, not what the people want. We should have the right to vote on this! The Gays always seem to get what they want. We give them an inch and they want a foot, they get a foot they want a yard and the list goes on and on. Same Sex Marriage is disgusting and I pity the children growing up in this very sick society! from Augusta, ME by Joan
Comment: I do not believe in god, Marriage is and was taught to us as a biblical contract between man and a woman. It says right in the Bible god hates gay people and should not be tolerated. I feel the gay community should have there own type of marriage called a union or something around that and yes the gay community as a whole and as an equal deserves the respect and equality of life just like anybody else, But as for our so called Governor the big catholic that he is, He seems to forget what god said about gay people or maybe he forgot to read that part of the Bible or of course in today's society why not everyone feels they they can change the words of God. My advice to the gay community do not trust the system they have proved many times to fail you this is not a victory but your right as a human being and a citizen, But anyway carry on and congradulations. DAVID J, BIRCH from westbrook/maine by david

Comment: I will never vote in maine again! we have voted this down more than once and then he goes and makes it a law anyway. Thats wrong. he should be impeached. not that im against gay marriage as i have several gay family members but it was the people of the state of maine who voted it down before. It should have been put to voters again. The Governor is supposed to uphold the will of the people not ignore them and do what he wants. If we hadnt voted him in to office he wouldnt be there. And now he has made a mockery of the way state govenment is run. This will be the single biggest mistake in his political career. I hope it comes back to haunt him. from brunswick maine by scott

Comment: I knew he would, because hes a liberal with no morals or ethics. I'm just so angry with Homos pushing there "gay" agenda on the fundamental principles that used to make this country great. Well you know what happens when you knock out the foundation of a house, it all comes tumbling down and people get hurt. I guess since I don't think homosexuality is right, I'm going to be marked as a "domestic terrorist", wrong, I'm a patriot and believe still in what made this nation great and love who made it.....GOD. from sadly i'm from Maine by Rick
Comment: This is slap in the face of the people of Maine who have repeatedly voted against same sex marriage. Once again the special interests get what they want regardless of the majority opinion. This law should be vetoed by the people, but haven't we done this before? As always our governor has failed to do right by the people of Maine. from Topsham by Jim

Comment: I believe in equality of family rights, but think the sacrament of marriage should remain as the Bible intended it to be...between one man and one woman. Thank God for Adam and Eve that we are here today; not Adam and Adam or Eve and Eve. by Trish
Comment: Marriage has now been redefined thanks to the lack of direction from the Catholic Church and other Christian Churches. This is not about equal rights because the state has long recognized Civil Unions of Same Sex and also Domestic Partnerships/Benefits. What this is about is the goal of same-sex marriages equal to male/female marriages which they will never, ever be. And it's also about inforcing those views/opinions on others who do not agree with their lifestyles. New laws will be written to forbid anyone from disagreeing with their lifestyle on moral grounds. Get ready for some lawsuits.... from Portland by Concerned
Comment: Disgusting??? what is sooo disgusting about 2 ppl who love each other very much??...it doesnt matter if their opposite or same sex...its none of your concern what other ppl do with their lives, if you beleive that it should be a man and a women, good for you, thats your belief, not everyone elses..ive lost family to other states because gay marriage wasnt allowed and now i hardly see them, so im glad that someone had the guts to do what was right. Telling a person they have no right to love someone of the same sex is like taking the law into your own hands and being god yourself. YOUR NOT GOD, YOU DO NOT HAVE THAT RIGHT TO MAKE THE CHOICE FOR OTHER PPL...get over it. and im straight from Gorham by Brigitte
Comment: I am not gay but I don't see why gay people can't get the same benefits as married people. It seemed like before it was passed, everyone was for it, now that it HAS passed, everyone is against it... People will be people, and complain about whatever happens just for the sake of complaining. by John
Comment: Separation of church and state, his faith should not enter into it and it didn't. Good for him. from Gorham, ME by Virginia
Comment: Equality is the only decision. However, Mr. Heath and all the hate groups, i.e. Christian Civil League, KKK, Maine Heritage Foundation and The Maine Nazi Party will get this on the November ballot. And to think that the Catholic Church will join this coalition is unbelievable. I guess politics does make for strange bedfellows. from Auburn by Dan

Comment: Only 42 years ago it was still illegal for a white to marry a non-white in some states. These days we know that it is a personal decision, not a governmental one. The same applies to today's vote for the right of same genders to marry or be recognized in a civil union. I am proud that Maine is on the forefront of disbanding discrimination in this country and applaud Gov. Baldacci's courage in facing the inevitable criticism and doing what he knows is right. from Kennebunkport, Me by Deb

Comment: Why is it that Maine always sits back and watches other states as a follower when it comes to any other legislation, but when it involves gay people, tree huggers, eccentric antique collectors and immigrants the government bends over backwards for them! The reverse descrimination makes me sick. This was a great place to live, and is still great place to raise kids, and that is the only reason I am here...I can't wait to get the hell out! from Everywhere, ME by Pete

Comment: I think that it is a sad day in the state of maine when our elected governor bends to the liberals and goes against his own virtues to be politically correct. Also I think part of his decision was based on the "Potential Money" that could be brought into the state coffers by the gay and lesbian community. The morals of todays society have definately have gone by the wayside to be "Politically Correct". from hollis, maine by greg

Comment: they should be able to get married just like everyone else in the world. If some one does not approve that is your choice but you willnever have to live their life, it's time to get over it. from Portland by Tabitha
Comment: It is definitely about time. Equality is just that. No one has the right to tell someone else who they can or cannot marry. Does a gay person have the right to tell a straight person that they should not marry multiple times just because they can't get it right the first time. from Bethel by Norm
Comment: This civil rights law finally gives gay and lesbians some long sought rights. My wife and I cannot understand why there is such a fuss. Same sex marriage will have zero effect on my family. Massachusetts which allows same sex marriage has the lowest divorce rates in the country. The same cannot be said of Maine. Perhaps this will turn those statistics around. from hallowell,me by jim
Comment: Equal protection under the law for all Maine's citizens... That was the goal and this is a great step forward. from Lewiston ME by Pat
Comment: I am so proud of our legislature and Governor Baldacci for standing up to hatred, bigotry and discrimination. Individuals should be free to love and build a family with same sex or opposite sex partners. This is a civil right and religion should not play in this decision. We have freedom of religion and now gays have the freedom to marry the person they love. I pray that people will not sign petitions to promote hatred and discrimination. Live and let live. from Topsham by Richard
Comment: Massachusetts has had gay marriage since 2004 and the only result was many happy couples and money pouring into local economies. I dare anyone to say that Maine can't use the extra money. from Pittston, ME by Steve
Comment: Whatever happen to the grand state of Maine where vows were sacred between man and women. HAS our governor lost his marbles.Marriage should be between man & women and no one else. Totally totally disgusting to see these people of same sex kissing in public. IT is a disgrace to this state and our children should not have to witness this indecent behaviour in public. Can't wait for Baldaci to leave office. He is driving businesses out of the state. from Winthrop by Carol
Comment: It's about time. To those out there who claim that marriage is a "sacred thing" that can be shared only by a 'man and a woman'" I say: If marriage is so "sacred," then why is divorce so legal and so common? Common... get real! Marriage is something "legal" between two people who love each other... That's what really matters.... It's about love and commitment. Get over your fears! from Lewiston by Cecile

Comment: Maine has always upheld civil rights. Thanks to our Legislature and Governor, we are still leading the nation! from Alfred, ME by Carol
Comment: Well, sort of yes. I believe that all humans deserve equal rights but as a Christian I would like to see them use another term - like "Parriage" - and not "Marriage". Whether two people are a same or opposite sex couple, if they want a "lifetime" commitment they should have all the rights and all the difficulties that are currently offered by law! from Portland, ME by Kyra
Comment: I feel no one has the right to tell an adult person who they can marry and who they can't. Would you like it if someone told you you can't marry your husband or your wife? I know I would not want some one to tell me I couldn't marry my husband.I bet I know what you would say!! Things change all the time and we need to go with the flow like it or not. from Gorham by Helen

Comment: It takes a strong leader like Govenor Balducci, who can separate his faith and church from what is right and the laws in Maine firmly states equality for all people. This decision was the right thing to do. He has set a good example. Hopefully others will understand this is basic civil rights, and Church's can decide on their own if they want to support gay marriage. Many do and just as many don't, however that should not stop two people in love from getting married as we all know not everyone gets married in church or by a minister. from Harpswell, Maine by Rose

Comment: Discrimination is based out of ignorance and quite frankly..fear. Folks should begin understanding what equal rights are for. Comment: Everyone deserves respect.Everyone is equal, with different roles in life. Two men can't nurture and two woman can't give what man has to give to a child. It is sad to see what was reported is the economic impact. What about the impact on children. Studies have shown that children thrive most with a man and woman in the home. Comment: Yes, absolutely! The passage of this bill is important to ensure basic civil rights for all Mainers. The same-sex marriage bill concerns CIVIL marriage only, and the issue should not be clouded by the concerns raised by those who oppose same-sex marriage on religious grounds. I feel that it is very important to make this distinction: the Bible is not the Constitution, and the United States is not a theocracy. It's also important to bear in mind that the Bible has historically been quoted extensively by those who opposed the abolition of slavery, as well as those who opposed voting rights for women, interracial marriage, and many other once controversial ideas that are now universally viewed as basic human rights. from Greenwood, ME by Amy

Comment: It is not about morality, it is about equal rights. The opposition to this bill often cites religion as why we should disapprove of this bill. Yet, Sen. Bartlett of Gorham said it best when he spoke of religious Mainers who unable to partake of a church sanctioned marriage because of the existing law. Baldacci voted to preserve the separation of church and state and uphold the constitution, otherwise known as fulfilling his duties. from Gorham by Valerie
Comment: The people of Maine have already voted on this before. What part of No don't they understand. It saddens me to know Gov Baldacci refuses to listen to the people. It is a matter of Morals. I believe homosexuality is morally wrong. This country will reap what it sows. The day will come when our Government regrets this decision. from Durham Maine by Kathryn
Comment: As a christian, I feel this law is so very wrong. I wonder if those that supported this movement really understands what will now happen. Comment: It is a sad time in our country and the State of Maine where God's absolute truth and moral law is no longer seen as relevant and for the most part from what I have read was not even used to any extent in the argument against such perversion as lesbianism and sodomy. The time is here when society considers good evil and evil good in so many areas. To speak against the moral wrong of sodomy and lesbianism and the marriage of those who practice it is now considered hate speech by many. We are all created by God in which He holds all of us to the same accountability. If I truly love my fellow man I will tell him and help them when they are in violation of God's Law. The answers to so many of our countrys ills are found in God's Word. Sadly our secularized society no longer sees God's Word as relevant. I pray that our leaders and people would by God's grace seek His will, ask His forgiveness, turn from our wicked ways and beg Him to heal our land. from Industry Me. by Thayden C.

Comment: Marriage is between a man and a woman. If Gays want to have the same benefits of marriage then a civil ceremony and a change in Maine law, to grant them the same economic rights as non-gays is appropriate. Comment: It`s truly offensive to see a small segment of the pop- ulation be able to twist the concept of marriage to in-clude two people of the same sex.The institution of marr-iage has just been trashed and turned on it`s head after a couple of thousand years of being defined as a union be-tween a man and a woman.I guess Gov. Baldacci and our legislators will now redefine the rules of nature and the laws of God for us.If gays want to live together, fine, but don`t make laws that re-quire others to think of this as something that it isn`t, come up with a legal term for homosexual marriage and call it that.Civil union seems fine. It doesn`t insult the true meaning of marriage. Simply put: don`t redefine marriage; define a same sex union for what it is! from Camden Maine by Mike

Comment: I'm a straight, educated, 20-something Christian female who is curious about two things: What is so sacred about marriage between a man and woman when, with a 50% divorce rate, the institution of marriage is almost a joke? And question 2, why are those who oppose gay marriage making their statements in newspaper editorials and online comments in a way that is rude, judgmental, and at times downright insulting to the intelligence of our legislators and the rights of our Maine people? I just don't understand how those on the opposing side can claim to stand for what is "right" while acting so, so wrong. from Windsor, ME by J

Comment: I couldn't be happier this has passed. I am heterosexual, but believe everyone deserves the same rights. I also believe in the separation of church and state! Those against it seem to base it on religion or personal beliefs, not what is fair for all fellow human beings. Furthermore, if you believe marriage is only for a man and a woman then that is how you should live your life; but I don't think you have the right to push your personal beliefs on someone else. Marriage is a civil union. You have to get a license to get married and you have to appear before a judge (not your religious leader) to get a divorce. Comment: Wow, these comments are appalling. Comparing homosexuality to beastiality- are you crazy? The state has actually made me proud today by giving me EQUAL rights (not special rights!) and then I saw these comments. The state should not be ashamed or embarassed by granting fairness and equality, but instead by the ignorance and fear shown in many of these comments. We will no longer be treated as second class citizens. We are your family, your friends, your teachers and coaches, your doctors and nurses, your public servants and local business owners. We are the people of Maine just as much as you are. What gives you the right to deny ours? How will my marriage take away from yours? Comment: It is my belief that regardless of color, race, religion, sexual orientation or age, we are all deserving of the same rights and treatment. Marriage, in and of itself, is a contractual agreement, and whether or not that becomes a religious ceremony should be left up to the parties involved and the individual churches. People worry about the "sanctity" of marriage, but pay no mind to climbing divorce rates and quickie celebrity marriages... How sanctified are those? Whether it is between a man and a woman, two men, or two women, love is love, and we all deserve to have our loves treated equally; we deserve the right to marry. Marriage for everybody, or marriage for nobody, I say. from Gorham, ME by Travis

Comment: It is not the place of religion to have ANYTHING to say about laws. There are many, many cultures for which so-called "traditional" single man, single woman relationships were either exceptional or just another option from a variety of options. Whether or not the bill passed they would still find a way to make their relationship connected. I am glad for all that this is benefiting, Baldacci, sorry, you still don't have my vote!! from by a lake by M
Comment: Of course. This is a constitutional argument, not a religious one. He had the choice to uphold the constitution or to let it pass without adding his name to the bill. The first was the right option and the second would have been cowardly. I am impressed that he made the hard and correct choice. It is hard for me to believe this is still an issue that needs debate. Everyone has a right to an opinion but legislation should be enacted to support the constitution. What happened to the separation of Church and State? by K
Comment: Thank you, Governor. It is high time that all committed couples receive full equality. from Warren, Me by Lis
Comment: I am so proud to be from Maine with this show of support for civil rights for all from Waterville, Maine by Marie
Comment: The problem is that one word, marriage, defines two separate things. There is the religious ceremony, held in the place of worship of your own choosing, and then there is the civil union of two people. The constitution of the United States separates church and state. For all citizens to be treated equally, they should all be granted equal rights under the "state" side of the constitution. Let the religious side do what they choose. For example, a church can perform a "marriage" ceremony, but if the couple does not get a license to marry from their local government, then the state doesn't recognize them as being married even if their church does. Conversely, if a couple goes to city hall and gets a license to marry, goes out the door and has a justice of the peace perform a ceremony, the state views them as being married, but their church might not. And more importantly, their church doesn't have to recognize their union. Again, the problem is that there is one word, marriage, that is used to define two very different things. As a friend of mine says, "Against gay marriage? Well then don't have one." I have been in a committed relationship with my partner for 19 years. And marriage wasn't legal until now, but we will still be together as a couple if this right gets taken away. There is no legislation that will change the way we feel about each other, and no legislation that will end our relationship. Lastly, the last time I checked we lived in a democratic republic, not a theocracy. The government is by the people, for the people. That means all people, not just those that subscribe to the beliefs of any particular religion. from South Portland, ME by Paul
Comment: Civil rights are civil rights are civil rights! from Freeport, ME by Stephen
Comment: I think that this signature exemplies the concept of Dirigo. My partner and I had a church ceremony in Brunswick 12 years ago. It was hard that it wasn't recognized by the state at the time. from Seattle, WA by Jim
Comment: Most people use God and the bible to defend their opposition to Gay Marriage. It is as simple as separation of church and state, this can not be used to oppose a law that allows equal rights, not more rights, based on sexual preference. from Wiscasset by Jenny
Comment: If two people love each other, they must be allowed the same rights, privileges and responsibilities, no matter their genders. Yet, marriage is so much greater than the commitment of two people to each other. Marriage is an institution that much of our culture revolves around. It is also an institution that is in crisis. Divorce rates are at an all time high. Infidelity in marriage is an epidemic. When someone can compete on a television reality show to "Marry a Millionaire", the argument about saving a sacred institution seems kind of pointless. from Gay Maine by Gay

Comment: This is a equal rights issue, it's about time that ALL people have the right to marry the person they love. from Oswego,IL by Sally
Comment: Marriage promotes social stability through life-long monogamy. It allows people to surpass their fickle human nature. Gay people can benefit from it as much as straights. If two gay partners wish to commit the rest of their lives to each other, for better or worse, they deserve our celebration. from Auburn by Dana
Comment: why the hell NOT??? Live & let live. Be happy. ETC. from Dover-Foxcroft, ME by Beth
Comment: It is about time for fairness and equality to come to Maine. It shows that Mainers are as everyone knows us, minding our own business with a live and let live attitude. Now, I'm confused about all the people screaming about how they'll be discriminated against for their religion. Do I hear them right, that their religious freedom trumps the freedoms of others who don't share their religion? That's an old (and tired) argument. Demonstrating selfishness will be the next order of business as taxpayer money is diverted from those in need to a referendum that will be immensely expensive. Maine can't afford to allow this argument to continue. from Belgrade by Steph
Comment: No, I think it is wrong for him to have made that decision for the whole state, and think that it should go to public vote in November, although I think we have already voted, but I think we should have the right again. from Winthrop by Dawn
Comment: I thought Sodomy was illegal and immoral. Laws and scriptures (any religion) are merely guidelines, and shouldn't interfere with our own desires. Whatever makes us happy is what count's. Raising a child just became much scarier. Now I have to warn my kids about Strangers, Drugs, playing with fire, and Polititians. These people didn't get into office on accident. The majority of you voted them in. Now we all pay the price. from Lisbon Falls by Jim

Comment: I believe marriage should be between a Man and a Woman. I believe that homosexuals should be able to have some sort of legal rights like straight married couples, but it shouldn't be called a marriage since it is a sacred thing. I am excited to vote down this law! from Gorham by Meagan
Comment: I approve 100%. Who is anyone to say who can marry who. In the end love is love rather it be same sex or not. Way to go Governor. I am one of many people who is proud of you choice. from South Portland by Jess
Comment: Absolutely. Governor Baldacci is courageous, especially considering his background, to sign this bill. This is all about fairness and equal rights. One last point, any one in prison can marry, killers, rapist, thieves, but me who goes to work every day, pays my taxes, just trying to be the best that I can be, cannot get married. Comment: It is time to end, once and for all, the political demonizing of homosexuality. The "religious right" in no way represents Christianity, Protestantism, moral values, ethics or principle. This issue is reasonable to debate within various forms of religion concerning religious practice and preference. This issue has no place in the Constitutional dialogue of free and equal people. Prejudice and hatred should remain personal faults to be handled personally and privately. To attempt to impose those prejudices and hatred upon others in actions of public opprobrium is disgraceful. Equal treatment under law is the only standard for governmental debate and action. Gov. Baldacci is doing his duty under the US and Maine Constitutions; he is wise and temperate enough not to be swayed by his own personal religious preferences. Comment: You are making a broad assumption that God in fact exists. Some would argue that He doesn't. Organisms for years have been changing or adapting to their environment in order to survive. Take the basic examples of bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics. It is the bacterias mechanism to adapt in order to survive. The goal of life is to survive and reproduce and will do so in any way it can. An example of evolution. Even if God does exist, organisms adapt to survive. It is a simple genetic mutation. I am against gay marriage so guess I'm must be a bigot, racist or I probably hate my country. I want my country back. We are losing our rights as human beings. The next thing they will take if they can is our guns. I got a feeling we are going to need to hang on to them. No one is taking mine!!! Our Governor has been looking out for himself and the media has been taking care of Mr. Baldacci quite nicely. Never hear anything bad about him on the news. Guess he's the most perfect politican we have ever had in Maine. I never liked him and liked him less when he put the screws to the Passamaguoddy's on the casino issue. I wonder why it is that there can only be one Casino!! (I'm talking the one in Bangor) Gee maybe someone at the State House might know what's really going on. Don't imagine they would tell us much. Most of em are in the same bed. Tony from Wiscasset asked, What's happening to our society? Comment: not for us. from bridgton, me by Greg
Comment: I am surprised at all the hatred and gay bashing from some of the supposedly religious people. God tells us not to judge others. I have always thought that gay people should be allowed to marry eachother, otherwise it is discrimination. It does not invalidate my "normal" marriage. Also two consenting adults choosing to live out their lives together is better than people being promiscuous whether they are gay or straight. When God said," Love your neighbor..." I believe he meant accept people for who they are and accept diversity. This law was long overdue. from Waterville by Heidi
Comment: I do not approve of this. I believe in GODs law, marriage is between one man and one woman. from Chelsea by Pam
Comment: Marriage is between One Man and One woman. Its ok to have a civil union between gay or lesbian couples. The bible doesnt say that its ok for them to be married. The problem is now theres going to be another issue of them wanting to be married in churches. Gay or lesbian couples can not expect someone to change their beliefs just because they say so. To force something upon someone isnt right and shouldnt be allowed whether your gay, lesbain, or straight. from Lewiston by Liz
Comment: I am a seventeen year old lesbian christian. YES IM A CHRISTIAN. Many of the people answering this poll dare to tell me who I am and who I am not. Only god will judge me. Who is he going to look down upon, me for loving? or YOU for your hate? All I can say, is the offensive responses towards the GLBT community ive seen here have not only brought tears to my eyes but also greatly offend me. For instance, one person referring to gay marriage being as if he married his dog. We are humans too. My girlfriend means as much to me, as your significant othersdo. I am appauled at the hateful reactions. I can promise this much, If you all want to gain signatures for your petition to bring this to a vote in november; WE WILL RALLY BACK JUST AS HARD. WE WILL LOVE OUR WAY THROUGH THIS RATHER THAN HATE, AND WE WILL PREVAIL. BECAUSE SEPERATION OF CHURCH, EQUALITY, THAT SEEMS TO BE UNMEANINGFUL TO PEOPLE NOW. SO IT HAS BECOME OUR PERSONAL BATTLES. from Windham by Jenna
Comment: I find this completely upsetting that half of you can sit here and say this is disgusting and sick, etc. I'm a lesbian, and there is nothing wrong with 2 girls or 2 men getting married. We want to be happy just like you straight people. To sit here and tell us we're going to hell etc is to me disgusting that you could even think that way. What have we ever done to you? Nothing. Did you ever think we didn't like the idea of a man and woman getting married? Most of us don't like it, but we back of from your lives and try to live and be happy in our own. The fact that you're trying to take this way from us is terrible and selfish. Live your own life, and back off ours. Maybe we will rot in hell, but I sure hope all you selfish ignorant people do too. You are all sad. It really upsets me. Let us be happy, and live our lives like you want to. And as for "The Gays always getting their way", that is a bunch of bull. We have been fighting and fighting for us to get some equality in the state we live in, and we finally got it yet I doubt it will last long because selfish people like most of you are taking it away. from Naples, Maine by pride in maine

Comment: I disagree strongly with this. Marriage is a license given to people who meet societal standards. We don't allow siblings to marry. Anyone is free to form civil unions or other partnerships. This legalizes sodomy, a proven unhealthy act. Laws are supposed to promote the common good. from Mt. Vernon by Marie

Comment: Using the rationale of "committed relationships" as the definition of Marriage is wrong and should be of concern to all citizens because that rationale can become a commitment of two, three, four,... I am disappointed in our Governor for his lack of insight into both civil and bibical ramifications for same sex marriage. "even mother nature knows that the propogation of the species requires one male and one female"....no matter how emotionally committed one is to another. from Auburn/ME by Ruth

Comment: He did the only thing he could do. He can't legislate morals and he couldn't allow his religious belief to determine which law he would sign. If he, or any politician allow that, then we would be no different than any other nation who's law's are controlled by religion. We are suppose to be a democracy. from Sabattus, Maine by Nancy
Comment: Let's end the hypocracy. For years same sex couples have been allowed to foster and adopt Maine children and build families. They deserve the right to marry and to be recognized and respected. from W Gardiner by Kelly
Comment: This is just another way that that politicians mess up our costitution. I believe it is about time we get rid of all of them and get all new and civic minded men and women into positions that can support how this country was founded. Comment: I believe the Governor took the cowards way out. Instead of standing up up for what he said he believes he went with what he thinks is most popular at the time. In a typical democrate move. He is hoping the law goes to the voters so he can say in either outcome that the voters decided and it was out of his hands. from Gray, ME by Bob
Comment: I am deeply disappointed in the Governor's decision! I feel that Maine is a beautiful lamb that has been cast into the fire with a herd of goats! from Edgecomb, Maine by Tammy
Comment: I know that all the people that are against gay marriage are probably already married to a husband or a wife. And plus you're probably in love with that person. So why can't we be in love like you? God never put anything in the bible about gays. But he did put a lot of word about love. Everyone is looking at this at a political point of view, but why can't everyone just look at it as just real life. People fall in love, even if it's two men or two woman loving each other, all that matter's is that their in love. So please just tell me, what's the big deal? from Boothbay Harbor, ME by Regina
