Are you doing anything differently in your daily life because of swine flu?
| 34.48% | Yes | |
| 64.94% | No |
Comment: It's not as extreme yet as it may seem. It's so like we have mass burials where 1,000's of people are dieing by the day, like in 1918 from Auburn, Maine by Shawn
Comment: I'm instructing my child to observe hygene habits, and not shaking hands in Church. Watching others a lot more cautiously from Biddeford by D
Comment: Just being cautious about washing hands. especially in public places. from Portland by Cole
Comment: drinking more "fluids" and washing my hands more often. from bridgton by marty
Comment: Ive become more conscientious of washing my hands, covering my mouth when coughing/sneezing, and keeping myself hygenic. Ive also distanced myself from those who are ill even with a small cough and remind them to keep their cleanliness as a precautionary step. I am only 17, im terrified of the fact that this could spread and it does have the ability to cause death and illness. You look on myspace and there are hundreds of bulletins all over about the swine flu. People of maine are really worried, I dont think anyone imagined It would be here of all places. from Windham, ME by Jenna
Comment: I am increasing my handwashing and taking extra care to move away if another person is coughing near me. I am also taking care to eat my veggies and drink extra water and get plenty of sleep. from Farmingdale, ME by Kim
Comment: I am most definitely washing my hands more often, and for longer. We are also thinking of staying home this weekend, even from church, so as not to tempt fate. I don't understand why there is so much hype about this thing though, seeing as there are fewer than 1,000 cases in the US right now, unless there is something they aren't telling us? from Mt Vernon by Shannon
Comment: No this is JUST THE FLU!!! from K'bunk by Michelle
Comment: staying in a little more only because of our 4 month old daughter. because she cannot handle the swine flu like a grown adult can. from lewiston by Roger&Renee
Comment: I am turning off the television news, especially the local news. That is making feel better and safer. And I'm picking up valuable minutes to do something useful, e.g. read, think, garden, etc. Please, get a grip and report this story with appropriate context and facts. Overall, I think you should be embarrassed at what you and your national colleagues are doing. It did occur to me that we are on the verge of sweeps week aren't we. Must be a news director/anchor's wet dream: a flu that has taken one life vs. the 35,000 that die every year from flu. from Cape Elizabeth by Ellis
Comment: This is WAY OVER the top of media hype. Just wash your hands , eat healthy and continue your normal life! from Maine by Pat
Comment: Wash my hands much more than normal. from Kennebunk by Lynn
Comment: I have been cleaning my hands a lot more than usual, but I wasn't afraid to get it until today when I found out that one of my friend's doctor wouldn't even test her for the H1N1 influenza. They pretty much just told her to treat it like the common cold, and try to ignore it. If she does have it, I am afraid as to what will happen to her. from Kennebunk by Katie
Comment: I'm a student and I've been avoiding all water fountains in my school as well as washing my hands serveral times during the day to avoid any possible infection. As a senior I have no time to be sick and don't want to spread this dangerous virus. from Oxford, Maine by Nicole
Comment: I am waiting for my Haz-Mat suit to arrive. Until then I shall cower in my house wearing my surgical mask while being constantly misted by antibacterial gel. Oh, and I will keep on watching the very scary news broadcasts about H1N1! from Fryeburg, ME by John
Comment: I am doing nothing out of the ordinary. Eat well, get enough sleep, drink fluids, cover your mouth when you cough/sneeze etc. Just basic stuff that should be normal practice for everyone. Like everything else, the "swine Flu" is getting blown WAY out of proportion. Many lives are lost every year to regular Flu, but that's not covered every minute on the news and we don't close schools for that. People just need to live their lives right now and just take care of themselves. from Saco by Jim
Comment: Yes. I have been watching the news for information. I have also been washing my hands frequently from Waterboro Me by Austin
Comment: washing hands and face more oftern. you sneeze & i leave. from Brunswick by Bryant
Comment: Yes, staying home. But...it was brought to my attention that one of my son's teachers was in Mexico over April vacation....Scary that the school staff is allowing him to teach in a high school of approximately 700 students. by ~Maine Momma~
Comment: Had a sore throat and a stiff neck; stayed home and did the "home remedy" which is gargle with peroxide, rub the neck with Vicks Vapor Rub and rested. It came and it will go. Let nature take it's course. from Sanford, ME by Ruth
Comment: what a joke! just govt. doing what they do best, screwing up everything, fear mongering, bad info.maybe we can shut down the whole country next flu season when thousands are sick which would make more sense.ps keep up the good work joe biden from windham by chuck
Comment: Shame on our Government for putting unnessessary fear to the American people. Only one person has died and under 100 people actually have H1N1. For Baldacci to declare a civil emergency was VERY premature to say the least.Especially in this failing economy.Rediculous, Absolutely rediculous!!! from Auburn by Don
Comment: I was my hands constantly, but now I am really paying attention to those around me that are sneezing and coughing...etc... from Buxton, Maine by Laurie
Comment: Its just like the regular flu just a different strain of it. Why would I change my life for the flu...There's meds I can take and sleep it off... People are over reacting from standish by Stacy
Comment: This is being hyped to ridiculous proportions by members of the media. This is not a major medical disaster as it is bein touted. People just need to be cautious and practice good hygiene. The issue in Mexico is already subsiding and there is NO need for PANIC!!! from Topsham by Jim
Comment: Keeping my daughters home from school until we know more about the local affect of the swine flu. from Kennebunk by Jenn
Comment: No. Why worry about something that you cant control. from Livermore Maine by Eric
Comment: Its amazing how the media likes to scare the general public. It its not the economy, the weather gets blown out of porportion and now swine flu. Its the flu! from Turner by Laurie
