Will Washington's Stimulus Plan Work?
Comment: I hope so, there is a lot riding on this. from portland by matt
Comment: No it won't. from OXFORD COUNTY, MAINE by WENDELL
Comment: Probably not! What happened to the first stimulus package? All it's going to be is more pork and aid to the people that don't need or deserve the help! It doesn't pay to be part of the middle class. by Chad
Comment: It will not work, it will only worsen our economy and send it back into the dark ages. Look how long it took us to recover from the Great Depression. Let's learn from our mistakes. from Gorham, ME
Comment: no from sanford,me by stephen
Comment: no it won't,in fact it will kill this country. This isn't free money some is going to have to pay for it. Some of the jobs that are going to be created are going to go to illegal aliens instead of people who were born here. from sanford by jay
Comment: im hoping so but i dont think so
Comment: no we will get stuck with bailing the fat cats out and the poor people get left behind again. by Fran
Comment: No, it will put us deaper in debt. Give the money back to the people that have earned it, through tax rebates. from Turner, Maine by Al
Comment: I sincerely doubt it as anything that is tried is not going to help the average worker because of the people in the house and senate with their own adgendas for whatever they want to push through rather than really looking at what is needed to help get jobs and tax relief to the people that need it most. They all talk like they want to help but they don't from Lewiston Me by Pamela
Comment: I do believe the stimulus plan could help but creating goverment jobs will not substain the econimy alone , you also need grouth in the buisness area. I am glad the republicans and demicrates are hassing out the bugs. This will get an even sided oppertunity for the plan. Maybe they should agree to work on the issues the two parties agree on for now and go back to the other issues later so the plan can be passed. I am proud to parties working togeather in the peoples behave. President Obama said there would be change, one of the greatest changes we need is for the two parties to work togeather and agree to solving the problems. If you would like to know I am an Indipendant. from Anson Me. by John
Comment: I don't think so. It feels hopeless to me. We, the people, really have no say. If we did, I dont think things would be the way they are right now. It seems it will continue to be "business as usual" in D.C., and that the folks we send there will continue to do what is best for them politically. I think the whole plan is a big mistake. One that we will probably never see the end of. I read this the other day, and it makes perfect sense to me: Due to recent budget cuts, plus the rising cost of electricity and natural gas, health care expenses, as well as current market conditions, The Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off. We apologize for any inconvenience." Very concerned about our future. If money is sent to all of us taxpayers, I will not be spending mine. It will be put away, and not in a bank. Just too many questions about the future, and it does feel like the sky is falling. We all need to be prepared. by Maine Momma
Comment: only if it encludes a stimules to inderveguals larger then the Bush One from Lewiston, Maine by brian
Comment: I don't think so.
Comment: No... What a waste of money! There is so much waste for things that will not do anything other then spend money. Why not just give everyone the money and let them spend it instead. What a joke. It is really not surprising though having elected a Democrat to office. from scarborough by Ivotedforhim
Comment: No it will not. The economic Model favored by the GOp over the last 8 years has left a far bigger hole then any amount of Money thrown at it can fix. American is going to have to go through several years of very difficult times before the Bush economic model is cleaned up. from Westbrook by Tim
Comment: Not sure, I should move to Canada or France where the government actually helps you instead of setting things up for failure. Fools. from Windham, ME by Jack
Comment: I Hope sooo from Buxton by Will
Comment: No it will not, they can not run the present Govenment programs never mind adding more. Let the people and business work it out. from Winthrop, Maine by Richard J
Comment: YES! AS LONG AS THE RICHEST GET NOTHING(BECAUSE THEY'LL POCKET IT FOR THEM SELVES AND NOT USE IT THE PAY THEIR EMPLOYEES BETTER) LOWEST IMCOM EARNERS SHOULD GET THE BIGGEST CHUNK OF IT; MIDDLE INCOME EARNERS SHOULD GET THE REST. FOR FAR TOO LONG, LOW INCOME EARNERS HAVE GOTTEN THE SHORTEST END OF THE STICK! from Greene, ME by Wilhelm Scream
Comment: "CUT OUT ALL THE PORK AND MAYBE IT WILL WORK"!!!!!!! from OOBME by jim
Comment: no, I don't think it will work, too much pork barrel items hidden in it, Obama may think he is the savior of this country, but he's not, its been in trouble way before Bush and Clinton from oob by Barbara
Comment: Of course it won't work. These fools are throwing money at ridiculous causes that won't help the average American at all The only thing I was hopeful foe was money for college students. But as usual, it only helps the ones who get the most aide anyway. The lower-middle class will get squat for it. Oh wait, I was wrong. We get to PAY for it. Democrats never change their stripes. Spend spend spend pork pork pork. It it 2013 yet? from Portland by JT
Comment: If your ok with bankrupting your childrens' futures then go for it. from Portland by Tim
Comment: the only way the government spending will help is if that money comes back to the tax payers. we have already given billions of dollars to auto manufacturers. to do what?? sending money to the tax payers would help consumers to purchase cars which would help the manufacturers. from Liberty by Warren
Comment: No. from Norway, Me by Peter
Comment: This is not a stimulus plan it is a spending plan. from Biddeford by Pat
Comment: With the federal government involved...Not A Chance...
Comment: I think this plan will work well for Everyone. from Me by sophie
Comment: No, Because i feel that the Goverment should send checks to the people let the people put it back into the economy, they say u can get a tax credit if you buy a new car or a house well what abou the people that can;t afford either one... again the rich get richer and the poor get poorer........... from Portland by Paula
Comment: The package is a failing effort. The real help needs to come to the people themselves. Until we have help with our debt it will not matter how may jobs they create. With our own amount of debt we still will not be able to stimulate growth in the economy. The money needs to come to the people of America. from West Gardiner by Dave
Comment: I believe the stimulus plan is not what is needed. This plan could be better. from Livermore, Maine by Edward
Comment: Absolutely not. It is a total waste of my money, being done from government/media manufactured fear in order to let Democrats get the funding they've always wanted for their pet, nanny government projects. The so-called stimulus package is an abomination. from Turner, Maine by Bill
Comment: No, I don't think the stimulus check is a good idea. Why continue to put ourselves further and further into debt for a stimulus check that will only help the problem temporarily, if it even helps it temporarily? from Leeds, ME by Heather-Lyn
Comment: Yes, I know it will work if we all pull together as a UNITED STATES and make it work. We all asked for change when we voted for President Obama and we owe it to him to help us do what we need as a nation. from Camden, Maine by Linda
Comment: Instead of bailing out the banks and big corporations why doesn't the government pay off the mortages of the PEOPLE. If no one had a mortage, the banks would have their money, and I could spend more, thus putting my money back into the economy.Give it to the people, we need it. This would fix 2 problems at one time. from Lisbon, Maine by Donna
Comment: We know tax cuts don't work. Bush's tax cuts for the rich didn't work. His tax cuts for the middle class didn't work. Why should this one? Infrastructure spending should boost construction jobs but not much else. We are just going deeper into debt I'm afraid. I don't know the answer. from Augusta by Ann
Comment: The stimulus plan will NOT work. It is just increasing the budget burden for our great, great, great grandchilden. It is not even expected to be fully spend in the next two years. There is more pork in this plan than there are in my pork chops. from Harpswell, ME by Mona
Comment: I have no idea if it will work or not. They're about to give President Obama a tremendous amount of money and I hope this helps the economy. from portland maine by Norman

Comment: Antitrust Laws enacted on OIL after the great depression suspended by Bush in 2000 need to be reenacted and enforced before consumer confidence returns ! ! ! NO billions will not help. from Liberty, Maine by J
Comment: it is only going to work if there is lots of prayer behind it and if folks can have money in pocket to spend as if its sent to states they will find excuses to use it in other areas even if its got stipulations to it . from Lisbon by Louise
Comment: SrOGERomething has to be done n. I's better to go with our new president now then to wait and have a bigger problem later. from BATH by ROGER

Comment: as father of two children who are part of the 30% of americans who rent and do not own a house, i deeply resent the efforts to keep home values artifically high so that they can never afford a home. shame on both parties. i bet every single congressman and senator own their own home already. the plan is to stimulate us by having today's kindergarten class pay the bills later? this is the height of short-sighted pandering to greed and the illusion of free goverment money. politicians are drooling over the dollars that will be thrown into state coffers and vote-getting projects. most amercians could tighten their belts and get through this and are willing to do so. i keep hearing politicians saying " doing nothing is not an option." NOT borrowing trillions of dollars from our kids is not an option? what kind of kool-aid did they drink? these people believe power and money can solve every problem. the way they (both parties) use power and money caused the problem and IS STILL the problem. from south freeport, me by ron
Comment: If they want to stimulate the people into buying, why not let all interest be cliamed on your Federal and State Tax Returns starting with our 2008 Returns. This would benifit the buyers and the business. from Brunswick, Maine by Bruce
Comment: Cant imagine how anyone could really believe that a spending plan aimed at saving or creating up to 4 million jobs is going to do anything but create more pain.what about the other 7 million americans who are also unemployed? Is it not true that theres up to 11 million american people currently unemployed? Nothings changed and theres not a thing we can do about it! We the citizens allowed the government to get to big ! Getting robbed again ! Surprised? Not me! from windham/Me by Al
Comment: No. The spending in this bill is nothing but Pork and will put our children future at risk with the debt it will create. from Westbrook by Elmer
Comment: NO! Oh, let me rephrase that... Heck NO! Trimming the fat would be a better start. ...and why do you need my email address?
Comment: Compared to what we have spent in Iraq, why shouldn't we spend $827 billion at home! It has to help. from Lewiston by Loretta
Comment: President Obama is not handling this situation well, He should write His own Bill or better yet changes to the current Bill for all of America to See. from Hollis Me by Rick
Comment: I think that it will work but only if they use it for what needs the help. I'm a middle class person and I'm trying to pinch a penny as far as I can but sometimes it doesn't go that far. from Gorham by Stephen
Comment: If the direct stimulus to states and funding for education isn't removed, it has a better chance. There are state projects waiting that would put many people to work. And funding education will have a 2-fold impact, both keeping teachers employed as well as helping our children work to a better future. from Wells ME by Jim
Comment: No it's to big with to much pork. Congress is using it to get all their pet projects threw that thay would other wise not pass. from Wells, Me by A
Comment: Porky pig is the true name of this bill. I am dissapointed in our Senators. from Lewiston by Don
Comment: it will not work the job that it might create will be low paying jobs at best 8 10 dallors a hour or so will the jobs pay 20 dallor or more? i dout it goverment does not know how to handle money we are in debt so let spend more is there way from Liberty Me. by Corey
Comment: I support President Obama's plan 100%. I think it will work a heck of alot better than the previous 700 billion dollar bail out package that we just gave away to the rich wall street executives! It has to be a big improvement on that failure! What I wonder is - why congress so hesitant to pass this stimulus package, but passed that bail out in a heartbeat. With no accountabilitiy at all! Something doth smell rotten in Washington! from Lisbon by Nancy
Comment: 3% is for infrastructure [jobs], and a lot of great programs,I'm sure. It will line a lot of pockets and I hope we can convience China to pick up the tab because someone [us] will have a bunch of money to come up with. by Concerned
Comment: Yes it will work. I can't get over people saying no. You all will eat your words when it does work, Our senators and congresspeople voted for it. So that should tell you all something. Also all 50 governers are in favor of this also, it will put people back to work and also helping the schools. I could go on on. Wake up people something has to be done and Obama is the right person for this job. from Portland by Rick
Comment: I think it will help temporarily. Until we weed out the thieves in government, both in Federal and state, the rich will get richer, the poor will get poorer, and the middle class will get all the media coverage. So no I don't think it will work..... from Harrison by Kip
Comment: Our two RINO Senators sold out to the snake-oil salesman; They'll rue the day!!! NO,NO,No from Hallowell/ME by Roger
Comment: Yes, this package will work. Oh, it won't solve every problem, and it won't turn the economy around tomorrow. It won't undue the lasst 8 years of devastation, but it brings me hope... something I haven't had in a long, long time. This president, and this package, give me hope ... just as I thought there was no reason to hope any more. from AUGUSTA by SHIRLEY
Comment: This stimulus plan will not work. the only thing that will work is tax breaks. This bill is nothing but a bunch of pork.Yes I am angry over this one. Our grandkids and beyond will be paying for this piece of garbage for years to come. It is not right. Tax breaks yes not pork. from Windham, Maine by Ann
Comment: I don't know enough about it, if it creates more jobs it is good. FDR's "New Deal" had good results, it is better than doing nothing. from Maine by Steve
Comment: This is not a stimulus package to creat jobs this is a big government growth package from Owls HEAD mAINE by Frieda M
Comment: Barack Isn't scared of critics. It will work because it has to. There is no other option. from Brunswick by Erin
Comment: It really depends, to be honest I think spending that much money really isn't going to help, all it's going to do is add to our already SIGNIFICANTLY large debt to foreign countries. A stimulus is necessary but not of this caliber. from Standish by Stacy
Comment: Yes this plan will work. It will give us 3-400,000,000 new jobs. Plus tax cuts. We need this. The Economy needs to get back in order. from Sanford by Sarah
Comment: No, we will be in debt forever and it will only make matters worse and put more government in our lives. from dresden,me by crystal
Comment: No,congress continues to show that it is only interested in its own personal interests and doesn't care about "we the people". Obama has already broken several promises. It comes as no surprise that he is breaking his promise of no pork in the stimulus package from Gray, ME by Tom
Comment: As an unemployed man in Maine, I do not think that this plan has any chance of doing any good. All it will do is waste over 800 billion tax payer dollars and the economy still will go down the tubes. Once the economy hits its natural bottom then it will naturally make a comeback that will allow the economy to work for decades to come. This bailout will only create cash junkies out of American businesses and they will be run effectively by the Federal Government instead of the free market. from Gorham, Maine by Spyder
Comment: NO---NOT IN THIS LIFETIME!!!! from me by Ted
Comment: This bill is nothing but a wish list for democrats. If Obama was truly trying to stimulate the economy, he would have made sure that everything in the bill would be geared toward creating jobs, not appeasing the far left liberals. from Rumford, Maine by Jerry
Comment: No- this plan will drive the country closer to a depression. We need tax breaks for people who pay taxes. All this spending will drive inflation up and to correct that interest rates will rise. Anyone rember 21% prime rate under Mr. Carter? This plan also sets the stage for a nanny state where the government will take care of you and decide everything for you. It is a sad day for America from Saco by John
Comment: NO. I don't think most of our Congress men and woman have even read the package. Too much pork and not enough "right now" stimulus . from Westbrook by Marc
Comment: Yes I think it will,At this point ,what do we have to lose? from windham, maine by pam
Comment: Typical Liberal politics, payoffs to organizations that elected him. We will have to print all this money which will cause runaway inflation. Remember when you are paying ten dollars for a loaf of bread, you can thank your socialist President from Biddeford by Jesse
Comment: No, this is the third stimulus package ranging from tax rebates to bailouts and now wishlist projects. Add up the money and every taxpayer could have received aprox $17000.00! Tell me that money wouldn't have been spent on cars and other big ticket items truly stimulating our economy from Gray, ME by Skip
Comment: It's bad legislation. It's Pork & Earmarks by another name. To really increase spending just leave the money with those that earned it by reducing payroll taxes. from Round Pond by Phil
Comment: This plan will not work. the only stimulas plan that will work is togive the money to the peoplethat will spend it.They could have given every taxpayer a million dollars and it would have cost less then it has now. by Gordon
Comment: I hope that it does. I do think thre will need to be oversight like we have never seen before. I'm afraid that all this money is going to be given out and used for things that do not help the people or the economy. I think that certain people will get richer and the average American will suffer. Time to pull all my money out of the system and start putting it under my mattress like my grandparents were forced to do! I hope that Augusta does not get any either. They are the worst at squandering all of our money away. from Brunswick by P
Comment: It will take a trillion... from Dayton by Addison
Comment: I don't believe so. You can't spend money to make money from Auburn, ME by PJ
Comment: No throwing money into this mess without detailed checks and balances, will only create more debt for our kids and grand kids. We need jobs now and if you give out promises of money two or three years from now no jobs will be here now to keep the working class going. by Nancy
Comment: No! The stimulus pacakge consists of more then money in our pockets. Digitizing medical records for government use. This will impact the elderly a great deal. No thanks! from Waterville by Eric

Comment: yes, i believe that it will work. The president is trying very hard to pass this bill and get everyone on board. If this plan does not work, we all lose. from portland, ME by lynda
Comment: If you could get out of debt by spending money,I'd be rich. The house wants to tell bankers they can't stay in fancy hotels, good plan, politicians should be held to the same standards as they are using our money also. Tax cuts and dicipline are whats needed from Livermore, Me by Ray
Comment: What is wrong with you people? The stimulus plan is meant to be spent> Thats how the economy works. You have to spend. They use the word stimulus to stimulate. In laymans terms, to get it moving. I ask any of you, do you have a better idea? This "package" includes plans for improving infastructure. You know roads and bridges? That will put the steel worker back to work. With that pay check, he can buy a car or make his mortgage payment. That mean the car sales man can go back to work. See where im going with this? from O.O.B by Kris
Comment: I haven't a clue...we'll just have to wait and see what happens... from Buxton, Maine by Laurie
Comment: It will work because doing nothing right now will not accomplish anything. from Livermore by Eric
Comment: this is socialism from saco/maine by morrill
Comment: Is this the change that the American people voted for in November? We cannot afford to spend a trillion dollars on a stimulus package. When has spending money to improve the economy ever worked for a country(Japan tried in the 90's and failed),we tried in the 20's and failed? We are saddling our children, grandchildren, and future generations with a debt that they will never pay off. Shame. from OOB by Barbara
Comment: I want to believe it will help but my gut says no. from Farmington by Nancy
Comment: We've committed 9.1 Trillion in spending since Dec 2007. Housing is still collapsing. Jobs are still collapsing. Soon inflation will begin to go through the roof, and bailouts will be eaten up by the overrunning costs created by our debt load. Then it will be too late. Mr. Obama can play "Saviour Politician" all he wants, but his push to spend, spend, spend is only going to precipitate the worsening situation, and commit foriegn dollars. This will give other countries the right to foreclose on our soveriegn land. In saving our economy, we need to be cautious not to give our National Security in the process. George Washington would turn over in his grave if he saw what Obama was doing. HE was a man of vision, compromise, and sacrifice. Obama needs to get off the campaign trail and start spending some time in the White House. from Biddeford by Doug
Comment: what they need to do is let out all the non-violent people in jail and save the country billions of dollars a year. It cost $40k a year to warehouse them. Let them out and have them pay for their freedom on the outside thru alternative sentening from Portland by Mike

Comment: no i dont think it will , as long as we keep giving our money to other countries , we will never have any of our own , start thinking about our homelands first before other countrys ...... from lewiston maine by bill
Comment: The Republicans gave to banks who gave away our tax dollars to themselves and left the country to rot. This plan is for the people and is very similar to how FDR, a president so beloved and respected that he served four terms, got our country out of the Great Depression. One wonders how the Republicans (except for ours from Maine) can even voice opposition after giving away the mint to Wall Street and the banks that take away houses with impunity. from Searsport, ME by David
Comment: I can't believe the People Of America have such short memories! The last 8 yrs have been tragically messed up by our former Leaders and they should shoulder the blame, not the present administration who have to clean up the mess!! Let Obama do his job and everybody help the plan along...if not just SHUT UP! 'Nuf said! from Biddeford, ME by Ray
Comment: No. I don't see this helping. If Washington truly wants to help the people, then it should be given in the form of tax cuts. I see this as another form of their pockets sewn into ours. So what else is new. by Sue
Comment: IT WILL HELP THE VERY RICH OR THE ONES THAT REFUSE TO WORK AS FAR AS THE WORKING CLASS THATS BARELY MAKING IT AND MAKES A LITTLE TO MUCH TO RECIEVE HELP... THE GOVERNMENT HAS NEVER OR WILL EVER HELP..THE PROUD BLUE COLLAR WORKER WILL ALWAYS STRUGGLE UNTIL THE DAY THEY DIE.... from SABATTUS, MAINE by PHILLIP
Comment: No, we will go farther into debt, and this plan will not work because the money funds to many things that will NOT help the economy. Our children will get stuck paying this back and it will not help us.. Something needs to be done, but we should not keep bailing out these big companys. Small companys are who we shold be helping. by Jeremy

Comment: I sure hope that it works. It's a lot better than doing nothing. The economy is so bad now that we don't have much to lose by trying. FINALLY, we have a president who, at least, seems to care about the poor and average person in this country. from Augusta by Lloyd
Comment: I really hope so. They need to watch where the money goes, and for what it's used. from Saco, Me by Joe
Comment: As long as it is not implemented as handouts, but instead as investments into the overall sructural integrity of this great nation than it should do fine. This country needs its own people to do the work this country needs done- repairs, upgrades, schools etc. Getting college assistance off the groung will be a giant step in the right direction. Again-training and education, NOT handouts. from Lisbon Falls, ME by Pete
Comment: As long as the money is appropriated correctly and not just handed out it may stand a chance. from Norway Maine by Mike
Comment: I think it will eventually work to get us out of this recession that we are in. It may seem like a big leap right now, but we just have to trust the President now. from Windham, Maine by Katie
Comment: It will if we can keep the rich from plundering it. The best "stimulus package" would be to give the money to the common man who would spend it to get him through the recession. from W. Farmington, ME by Tom
Comment: I hope so, we need something. Anything will help at this point. So many people have lost their jobs another stimulus check would help them pay bills and have money for food. from Raymond by Cindy
Comment: No, it won't work at all. If they want to stimulate the economy, give the money to us and let us pay off bills that we have. Divide that $827 billion equally to every working American over the age of 18 and earning less then $100,000 per year. That would allow us to pay off our own mortgages and free up money to buy other items to really stimulate the economy and put people back to work. from Biddeford, ME by Steve
Comment: how can spending more money work?,cigarettes and alcohol are still a booming buisness the county has been supporting that for a while now.look at the spending in jails and what people are there for.change some laws, there will be a billion.dollars or more there do they realize how much the first stimulus joke helped the econmy.we should have say how they use the money or how to run the government cannot do any worse from Portland by Steven
Comment: i would like to hope so, but we seem to have too many that think money grows on trees... we have way too much waste within the country, states and cities and towns.. no thinks beyond there own noses!!! and until we get back to the basics and REALITY then nothing is gonna work at this point brenda from saco maine by brenda
Comment: NO it won't!! More government fertilizer. Socialism here we come!!! I should quit my job and let the government take care of me and pay my bills, if I had any. from Raymond by Julie
Comment: Absolutely not!! Nothing in the plan to put people to work until 2011! Sad thing about this is the media won't report what is REALLY in this bill! from South Portland by Bob
Comment: The question isn't whether the Democrat Spending Plan will work, it's for whom it will work. It will not work for the average Joe. Tax cuts would. This bill is nothing but pork. It's purpose is to make people dependent upon the government. As a result the Democrat party, which promises government hand-outs will be in power for the foreseeable future. Would Ronald Reagan ever propose such a bill? NO. Remember this: socialism never works because eventually you will run out of someone else's money. from South Portland / ME by Jim
Comment: I think President Barack Obama is trying to make things better for all of us. I do not think that the package will help all because it is just a quick fix to a problem which will cost everyone dearly in the years to come. I don't see any provisions in which help those with WASTEFUL spending inregards to owing childsupport or being overpaid by governmental agencies. I thought this economic stimulous was to stimulate the economy not reimburse the economy. Haha from portland by jason
Comment: yes - many economists are saying this is the best way to get things going. Put people to work, not give handouts from Portland by Beth
Comment: I think it will be a good start! And that's all I can ask of the President. So I believe it can. from Old Orchard Beach by Brandon
Comment: Creating far too much dependence on government for welfare, temporary work projects, bailouts and expenses that won't stimulate the economy. Too large a price tag, being pushed through too quickly to be examined. The president is trying what he does best: present an emotional plea instead of facts and an open book. from Portland by Dianne
Comment: Not being an expert, I don't know if it will work, but it sounds as if it makes sense, and we need to do Something! Kudos to Senators Collins and Snowe - the only ones strong enough to cross party lines. I'm so proud of them! The rest of the Republicans should be ashamed of being so narrow-minded and partisan. from York Beach by Barbara
Comment: I think its heading in the right direction but we need to realize that helping out the economy at this point needs to start at the bottom with the little guy. Help the little guy and then he can spend money to help out the bigger companies. Just helping out the big companies isn't going to do anything, becuase the little guy still cannot afford to buy or spend. from Buxton, Maine by Chris
Comment: I feel very strongly that President Obama is on the right track here w/ his stimulus package--it is alot of money but I find him so very bright and has surrounded himself with the best people to advise him---it is a far different approach than would ever have come out of the Bush admin. I believe the people are backing this plan...I am fully in support of Obama's plan from Shapleigh,ME by Melanie
Comment: Yes I do, it may not happen overnight but it will happen. We the American People put him in the White House. President Obama didn't lie to us, he told us it was going to take sacrifices from all of us! Give the man a chance!!!! What else are we going to do ? I don't see anyone one else coming up with ideas, only trying to create roadblocks. PEOPLE WE DON'T HAVE THE LUXURY OF TIME FOR ANYMORE ROADBLOCKS!!! LETS TIGHTEN OUR BELTS & ROLL UP OUR SLEEVES & GET TO WORK ON GETTING OUR COUNTRY BACK ON TRACK!!! from Auburn, ME by Deborah
Comment: Yes, if the democrates are allowed, by the rich republicans, to give the people not only help with job stimulus, but also help period. We need the "pork" because we have been suffering for a long time. We are not rich and are having trouble buying groceries and living normal lives. The middle class who work hard can no longer pay even minimal bills. People need jobs but we also need help from the governent by having them give money to the states for state health insurance; fiancial boosts for our schools: some kind of financial perk for all of us to pay bills without going deeper into debt and so on. Middle class is now the lower income and we are working very hard and getting nowhere because the very rich have absolutely no idea what the real world is like for us.The lower income is now "no income". We elected Obama because we wanted change, and not just the same old selfish worn out ideas that give all the money to the rich. Now the Repuulicans are blocking Obama from achieving that goal. Also small businesses in this state do not make nearly as much as the government thinks they do. We can no longer make ends meet no matter how hard we work. Get rid of the rich selfish people who think that life sustenance is "pork". from Fairfield Maine by Vicki
Comment: No,I dont see where it brings any new jobs to the country, or the state. It may help construcion workers in Portland,With all the new projects going on down there..But where does the new bill create new jobs threwout the state,Expecialy in Oxford county, where I live and the unemployment rate is the HIGHEST in the state.... from SUMNER,ME by SHAWN

Comment: So, new stimulus plan, take the the multi billion dollar plan, divide it out to each individual that makes less than $100,000 per year equally, and see how the economy comes up after. from So Maine by CONCERNED
Comment: I liked the last stimulus package better, where eveyone got a check but I feel that Maines D.O.T seems like their wish list wants to dominate the funding, First the raise the tolls now want millions for other pojects, There are lots of othe needs of the state besides D.O.T...The State has already made alot of bad investments and mismanagment of money, The people of Maine should have more say in the use of the money and be kept in the loop. from Portland Maine by Dan
Comment: This plan will not work. Our representatives in Washington just do not understand that the people that make this country work are the middle class, $25,000 to $80,000 were is there any thing in this plan that will put money in their pockets. As usuall the unemployable and the large corporations will get the majority of these funds. from Windham by Peter
Comment: It has to work. It`s better than doing nothing at all! from springvale Me. by jeff
Comment: NO!! They are just digging us deeper and deeper into the hole. This is not a job creating bill, unless you take into account they are creating jobs in the GOVERNMENT!! And the millions being out in to "update medical centers" is merely a cover for updating abortion clinics. This is a farce and Collins and Snowe need to go!!! from Auburn, ME by G
Comment: No, there is no stimulus about it. i have read the entire bill and it is full of junk. All, i can say about is get ready for massive tax hikes and the loss of our freedoms. from Westbrook by Matt
Comment: I would like to know what was done with the last one! from Turner by Laurie
