14.23% Yes
83.49% No

Comment: Obama will fix everything, I think we are saved! from Portland by Brian

Comment: Barney Frank is still around. You will need to be careful from Portland by Good Luck

Comment: No, I believe that we are in a Depression not a Recession and it's going to take some time for the United States to get back on it's feet. This is not going to be a quick fix by any means and I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel for a long time to come... from Buxton, Maine by Laurie

Comment: Until I see change I don't believe I will change anything at this point from Casco by Josh

Comment: No, I don't , I feel that we have a long road in front of us. He's only been in office for one day. I think its a wait and see attitude for now. from OOB by Barbara

Comment: people think just because a black man is elected theres going to be a big change.. you people need to get a life nothing will change until someone stops the free trade agrement and get our jobs back into this country. from tampa by chris

Comment: Thats a tuff question. Its not that i dont have confidence in President Obama, but what we are left with from Ex-President Bush its going to take awhile to recover and want to take the chance on spending. The economy is so bad.. from lewiston by pamela

Comment: The government can not fix anything. Basic economic say that only the economy itself can fix itself. So we need to watch the economy because Obama cannot fix it. from Brunswick Maine by James

Comment: It is simply amazing that when housing was making banks and people hand over fist, that the government never stepped in to slow it down. When Wal Street was making people overnight success stories, again nobody wondered how this was happening. With every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, thus the situation we are currently in. It seems to me that everyone has jumped on the bandwagon to raise prices on everything. Take the turnpike for example. Wasnt this thing just redone three or four years ago and it is in need of major repairs now? Isnt there any guarentees on the workmanship? How about this, get rid of the Maine Turnpike Authority and have ONE board oversight for the whole highway from Kittery to points north! Why is it that people north of Portland can use it free? Would have nothing to do with sticking it to the population that is the heaviest. We dont have any control, we are in a mad, economic free fall. from Portland, ME by Rob

Comment: I do have the utmost confidence in President Obama, however it's going to take time, nothing is going to get better overnight....though it is SO nice to have HOPE again:) from Richmond by Stacey

Comment: Definately not. I lost a lot of my retirement money in the economy and my dental bills have been outrageous! from Sanford Maine by Ruth

Maybe if he spreads to stimulous pkg to the people who really need it, things may change a lttle. I am not going to do anything different until I truly see some changes..... from former maniac by Debby

Comment: It's too early to see what he will do about several critical issues. The war, the invasion on our southern border and throwing taxpayer money at the economic problem. from Augusta / ME by Rick

Comment: Nothing has changed just because of a new president. He doesn't possess any magical powers that I know of. This nation needs to stop bailing out every badly managed company, bank and industry. Congress needs to begin working for everyone, not just their pet projects, wasting millions of our tax dollars on programs that are targeted for a few. from Parsonsfield/ME by Jean

Comment: He is the President of the United States, he is not the "World Leader". This is a global economy. I am hopeful, not ignorant, and I am not among the wealthy elite untouched by the current economic climate. from Berwick/ME by Heather

Comment: I think we have a long way to go before we can feel secure in the economy, but having said that I continue to try and spend in my local stores/restaurants vs. big chains. from Topsham by Gloria

Comment: It is still to early right now to say. I don't really trust President Obama. from Pownal

Comment: I am optimistic, but would like to wait to see what President Obama will be able to do to help the marketplace before I feel confident enough to start spending more money again. The problem is, is that the economy is very much a consumer mindset, and if everyone said "Yes I fel more confident, I will start spending money," then the economy would start exploding... from Portland/Maine by Darren

Comment: I don't think anyone will be spending much more than they have to until the economy is totally restored. by T

Comment: Not by any means. Its going to take more than a slick talking democrat in the White House to bring us out of the recession we are in. from Harrison, Maine by Kip

Comment: I just can't believe how many people seem to be buying into the "change" Obama will bring. I think he may have the best intentions, but no one man can get this country back on it's feet.
