Comment: YES INDEEDY! I'm all for the Casino Resort! This is a way better proposition, then allowing opportunistic companies such as Plum Creek to overtake our beautiful Moosehead Lake for the sake of profit over nature! Maine Ski resorts are shaking in their boots already! We need all the job opportunities we can get here in Maine, so why not gambling too! We'll just go elsewhere to spend our money if we have any left by next year. ROFL from Maine by Waldo
Comment: It would bring much needed jobs to the area from Harrison, ME by Charmane
Comment: Oxford County really has no jobs and people living their need to travel great distance to work or collect welfare to live. The only concern is that it be well off the main road not to cause traffic problems like the speedway does on big race days. from Windham by C

Comment: jobs and income for the sate needed...stop chasing away businesses from So. China, Me. by Patricia
Comment: Yes. I think it will benefit the economy. from Waterville by Heidi
Comment: It's dirty business, nothing else. Just like the very sin they peddle, these gambling "executives" fuel peoples aspirations with false hopes, half- truths and outright lies. The jobs created will never add up like they say and just like at Sunday River, they will be hiring workers from out of the country to do the dirty work that the people on welfare here are too lazy to do themselves. The addiction of gambling, and the drugs, prostitution and organized crime that come along with it are not justified by the jobs created. All these dollar signs these criminals from Las Vegas are throwing around don't include the impacts on our society. The town of Oxford has made poor choices in their development planning, but this would be a festering scab on the State of Maine. VOTE NO ... don't sell out Maine to organized crime from LAS VEGAS, NEVADA. from Oxford, ME by Wendell
Comment: Maine needs a casino just for the revenue........what is wrong with people by Debby
Comment: I think its what maine needs right now. help boost our economy and give hard working Mainers a chance to work for a living. I know there is the argument for crime levels and such.... but oh well.... guess some of that money the state will make from it should go to hiring more Law Enforcement Officers. from Eliot, ME by Andy
Comment: More Problems that Maine doesn't need!! from Lewiston by Janet

Comment: yes i would vote for a casino anywhere in the state .we are losing jobs everyday including mine just laid off from biw with 19 years any jobs would help by doug
Comment: People have a right to decide if they want to gamble or not.It is not up to a few people to tell other people what they are allowed to do. Also if people are going to gamble anyway why not make money in Maine from it instead of letting it go to Conn. or New Jersey. from Portland by Edna
Comment: It would bring many jobs and provide funds to a state very much in need. We are not the moral police and should not stand in the way of people who choose to gamble. They will simply go to Foxwood and spend their money there. from Norway, ME by Bob
Comment: Voting no to this is just another example of prohibition. Trying to control whether or not people gamble is no different to trying to conrtrol whether or not people drink alcohol. By the way, I don't gamble. from Brunswick, Maine by Gary
Comment: I think it would bring alot of needed jobs for the area. And with the prices of oil and gas people need jobs. from kittery, maine by kathy
Comment: I don't think having a casino in Maine would change our state, years ago they said the same thing about the Lottery coming into the state. People will gamble here or somewhere else. from Farmington by DeAnna
Comment: I would LOVE to have a casino in Maine!!!! The state should keep people gambling in state instead of letting Conn. get all the tax dollars from it. We have to pay for all the money Augusta likes to spend every year. from Buxton by Shawn
Comment: Absoultley, new jobs being created in the state of Maine is what we need. These people who disagree need to sit back and look at things and how this could help the economy in Maine. from South Portland by Bruce
Comment: The only winners in this business`are the casinos.,It's the losers money that builds such places. from South Portland by Tom

Comment: Why bring the state of Maine down? If people want a casino, they can move someplace else. from Edgecomb by Tammy
Comment: Definately yes. More jobs and more money for Maine. Why Not??? How many buses take our Mainers to Foxwood every week? It is a win win situation. from Livermore Maine by Juanita
Comment: After a very breif visit to the Casino in Bamgor I am totaly against any Casino's coming to Maine. There were no happy couples in evening-wear prancing around laughing and winning money,no the majority of folks I saw there were locals who looked as though they had very little to spare financially. It was very depressing to see these vulnerable people throwing their money away in hopes of "hitting the Jack pot". Sure a Casino may bring in jobs but at what price to how many? from North Berwick,Maine by Heidi
Comment: I grew up in South Paris. A casino would ruin the area. Maybe it would bring jobs, but people would spend money on gambling that they can't afford. It is just so sad to think that my childhood home may be destroyed!! from York, Maine by Karan
Comment: The quality of the jobs would not help Maine people raise their standard of living. It would be a short term solution rather than a long range plan to increase jobs in Maine. from Lisbon by susan
Comment: We cant afford to miss another oppertunity like this.some people woory about crime and other things this will bring and its ignorant!!! from O.O.B.,Me. by Wade
Comment: I would vote NO on allowing a Casino in Maine as it sends a wrong message that it's ok to spend all your pay check on trying to get more. This issue of a Casino has been brought up before and defended, which, was smart. My hope as us as Mainers will vote NO on allowing a Casino in Maine as we don't need it. Yes, we need more jobs, but, this is not the way to get them. Finally, I don't feel it's right for people to gamble as they could loss everything. from Rockland, Maine by David
Comment: We have to many people on welfare that are using their money etc. gambling it away on lottery tickets, we don't need to add another way for people to waste their money on in this state. Oxford says it's going to get 2 % revenuue from this, but it will cost the town double that for extra services and trouble. from Biddeford, Me. by Lenny
Comment: People have no money now and are feeling desperate? Why put temptation where ain't needed? from Turner by Arlene
Comment: I think alot of people would be surprised if they knew how many local people go out of state to gamble. Thats why I think it would be a good idea to approve the Casino, and help keep the money in this area. from Bridgton,Maine by Brenda
Comment: Once we open the door to this casino, more will follow. This is not what the beautiful state of Maine is about, which is enjoyment of natural resources. We should not be facilitating gambling addictions. I think the 'outside consultant' from Massachusetts was totally hired by the casino company. Do they think we're stupid? from Wayne, ME by Chris
Comment: it is not right or fair because the indians wanted a casino and it was voted down.then they have slot machines in bangor and scarborough also has gambling.so why should oxford?further more it would be people from out of state, that would benefit before our people would.this is just another one of their so-called pranks they play to get what they want. from augusta, maine by sandy
Comment: The town of Oxford has lost two manufacturing plants and the residents need employment. from South Paris, ME by Patricia
Comment: We need this in Oxford County!!! We need the jobs!!! The woman who said it would bring in out of staters ,WHERE has she been Who goes to Sunday River and Sugarloaf and Shawnee Peak??? Mostly out of staters, leaf peepers?? Come on!! Maine relies on tourism. So many stores have closed, Norway looks like a ghost town. I will most definetely vote YES on #2!!! from West Paris, Me. by Sandra
Comment: I go to foxwoods sometimes and this would save alot of time traveling on a bus to go. If people have gambling problems they dont have to go from Gorham,Me by Joyce
Comment: After twice defeating the Native Americans attempt to bring in casinos, how can we seriously be considering this for the rest of the state? Absolutely no! from Kewnnebunkport by Debra
Comment: As far as I'm concerned, anyone that would vote against the casino is either too rich and doesn't want to be bothered by the middle class or too busy to even think about visiting the resort. Having a casino in Oxford County would bring people into the area and much needed wealth to the State of Maine. If someone is afraid of the gambling, drinking, partying, etc. that comes with the casino, they better also be opposed to all clubs, bars, and all Super Bowl parties. from Oxford, Maine by Rick
Comment: NO I will NOT support an Oxford County casino. I will NOT support a casino anywhere in Maine. I have voted NO the past few election cycles. I am furious to see this question being voted on, again. How many times do we have to say NO? No one in this state has money, yet you want them to go gamble what bare pennies they've got? This is just nuts. The only ones who make money on casinos are the owners. It's not worth selling our way of life & our soul. from Standish by Stephanie
Comment: I would vote for it because of the jobs & revenue it would bring to this state. I personally am not a gambler. But yes I would vote for it. from Westbrook,Me. by Joseph

Comment: It doesn't bring good jobs and it increases the crime rate. from Portland/ME by Sarah
Comment: I have always supported bringing a casino, or even a racino, to Maine. I believe that it's worth the risk of a small rise in crime to bring in the tourists and extra money the location will put into our local economy from Portland, ME. by James
Comment: Casinos are at odds with Maine's emphasis on nature-based tourisim. Let what happens in Vegas (and Atlantic City) stay in Vegas. from Rangeley, ME by Cathryn
Comment: Bring it on. from rumford by fred
Comment: In my opinion, Bangor certainly has a racino/casino. Why not other towns? from Eustis by Joanne
Comment: keeping it here in Maine: more jobs maybe lower taxes all the way around it makes sense for Maine from Waldoboro Maine by Lynn
Comment: We need something to bring some money to the state. Taxes are high, services are low, and the stock market is crashed. It looks like this is what we need. from OOB by Mike
Comment: No Way!!! People have a hard enough time making ends meet. Throw gambling into the mix and you might as well have people sign Foreclosure Papers when they enter the Casino. from Gray, Maine by Joe
Comment: it will boost the economy from maine, lewiston by josh
Comment: I am going to vote yes anyway. I think we need something new as far as revenues are concerned.I know of no great crime spree as is so often touted by Casinos No in the State of Conn ! Since we are the most taxed state in the Northeast, I will also be voting against the beverage tax.I have expressed my opinion, and certainly hope others will do the same. This is what makes America strong dispite the financial choas we are presently in. We are going to vote for new leadership to run our country, be sure to exercise this right ,no mtter your choice !Thank you for the opportunity to be heard. from Wells,Me by Nelson
Comment: Will Me. still be called Gods Country? A casino is a means for escape some get addited, could be more drunks on our roads. Will this brang our standards higher or, yes lower. A casino will bring more traffic over and above poeople who come to Me. to vacation. This means more taxes for maine's to repair roads. higher tolls, Crowered highways by-ways and airports. More air pollution. from waterville, me. by donna
Comment: To say that the casino would change Maine is crazy. The face of Maine is changing and we are not the "independent" bunch we once were. Our State depends on hand outs from the Federal government and tourisim so whats wrong with a casino? Good paying jobs and more tourists. It will alos give Augusta more people and businesses to tax. from Lewiston by Treehugger
Comment: No because the casino could possibly make more people poorer than they are. from Waterboro ME by Austin
Comment: I hate to see hard working people throw their money away on a chance. by toby
Comment: Mainers would be stupid if they vote no. A new casino would bring in not only revenue for the State, but also a lot of jobs. from Windsor by Jarid
Comment: I believe like many other Mainers that a casino in Oxford County would have a substantial effect towards the economy in a positive way. creating many jobs in a time of financial worries for our country from Oxford by Jason
Comment: I think a casino would help boost the economy. from Sanford, ME by Tina
Comment: Oxford County desperately needs jobs. The people who run to Foxwoods every month might just as well spend that money to help Maine's economy. from Naples by Wilma
Comment: WHY NOT!? Enough is enough of this garbage. Casino = REVENUE = JOBS!!! Money leaving the state is money wasted. from Portland, ME by Cole
Comment: We need the added jobs and revenue to help support the Maine economy. Those who don't want to go don't have to. from Lewiston, ME by Korrin
Comment: It would help Maine with more obs and we are already losing our moneyO.O.B to Foxwoods all the time. So I say, YES,YES,YES! from Old Orchard Beach, ME by Brandon
Comment: I will vote yes if it means that Washington County can also have their casino. Unemployment in that county is the HIGHEST in the State. They really need the jobs!!! from Auburn/Eastport by Annemarie
Comment: Casino's are tourist distinations. What are we? oh ya, a tourist state. from Winslow by Jim
Comment: This state needs to join this century we complain about being poor, need new roads, schools, law enforcement, unemployment benefits are drying up nationwide, homes are in foreclosure when are we gonna wake up vote yes we need the money. The only argument Maine has is that its gonna bring crime here we already have plenty of crime and Bangor slots didn't cause any of it. from Portland by mike
Comment: The state of Maine makes millions on gambling why should we not cash in on that. We need the jobs and keep the people that go out of state to Gamble here . from Lewiston Maine by Harvey
Comment: We do not need a casino here in oxford! we are a small town and we need to perserve that. we need jobs not a place for people to blow money they cant afford to blow!! The last thing we need is a casino! from oxford by mel
Comment: A casino is going to be the state's financial savior - while casinos across the country are cutting back & laying off hundreds - give me a break! from Portland, ME by John
Comment: Casinos are designed to take money from people who gamble. In these uncertain economic times, supporting establishments that allow people to throw away their money, is not a smart idea, and using the argument that a casino will generate jobs, is a poor excuse to pick a man's pocket. from Biddeford, ME by Andre
Comment: Yes I think it would be great. The people that says no Tell them to shut up They say it would bring crime in Maine thats what we pay the police for.I think keep the money in Maine and stop bringing it to Some where else. from Westbrook by Frank
Comment: There will be a negative effect on the community of Oxford and on the reputation of Maine generally if this goes forward. from Augusta by Kevin
Comment: Another source of revenue in the state of maine that would also create jobs? Why would anyone support that? Instead we should deliberate, create study groups, generate reports, raise taxes and pay people unemployment wages. from Portland, ME by Patrick
Comment: I think a casino would bring in lots of jobs to the area. Some people think that it would bring in too much traffic and more tourists. Maine is considered a tourist state. So what is a little more tourists and traffic? We should benefit from the kind of revenue and jobs a casino would bring into the state. from Poland, Maine by Tammy
Comment: Having lived for twenty years in Northern California where Indian Casinos are prevalent, and having seen how only a small number of people benefit from it, I say no. The people hired will be minimum wagers, but those who own the casino will rake in the monies that the welfare and Social Security recipients shouldn't be spending there. We shouldn't vote to become co-dependents. Make sure that the casino will pay taxes to the County and State before agreeing to anything or no deal. from Waterboro/ME by Lori
Comment: need better paying jobs, great idea. from buckfield ME by Tim
Comment: HEY YOU MAINE PEOPLE WAKE UP SMELL THE CASINO JOBS JOBS JOBS WHY IS ITEVERY TIME WALGREENS WALMART LNG CASINOS WE REJECT WE REJECT WE REJECT WE JECT THESE R JOBS TAXES HEY U PEOPLE FROM OUT A STAE MOVE BACK T by J
Comment: heck ya. bring on the jobs. better to trust a vegas company, that has the experience to raise up a successful casino, than to give into the blunderings of a governor that wants to only enhance his home town and forget the rest of the state. don't people go to casino's for vacations? isn't this supposedly Vacationland ? have to think about the source when you hear slander about casino's. ie. uneducated, backwoods, retired or should be retired people living in the past directed by lack of knowledge and fear of change. Without economic change in Maine we wont even be able to call ourselves Vacationland, this'll be the place that shoes, paper, textiles, lobster and fish USED to supply the world from. from winthrop, maine by Pete
Comment: Leaving the grocery store this evening I saw a couple scratching a dozen tickets and I had to think about the fact that we allready have a state run gambling facility. Throw in the powerball and megabucks what is the difference?? Years ago I had a chance to have a visit in Nevada, they had slots on the way out of the grocery store and I swear I saw the same folks!! from Portland, Maine by Sean
Comment: Bring on the jobs and $$$. It's time we stop busing gamblers to CT and bus them to Maine! Besides, I'm sure there would be entertainment shows too not just gambling - from saco by Patty
Comment: If folks are going to gamble, they are going to gamble, lets leave the money in our state from Sabattus
Comment: I thought it was discusting that we didn't allow it in sanford. The town of oxford as well as any others that people need to travel through, as well as the state, would benefit from a new source of tourist income. Not only would there be more jobs at the casino, but other businesses would be making more revenues and needing more help as well. The state would even have higher revenues from the accumalation of income tax going in. from OOB, ME by David
Comment: Absolutely. I lived in the State of Nevada for several years. Casinos provide an outstanding place of employment. The casinos are well monitored, have rigid State as well as Federal regulations to follow. Enormous revenue is brought into the state - and in the State of Nevada there is no State tax because of the heavy revenues brought in from the casinos. Believe it or not, it is an educational experience to have a casino in your area. At one time, the University of Nevada worked with casino executives and arranged 'Statistics/Probability Classes' - (involving betting techniques etc..). Community tours were arranged so residents, school groups, and other members could have an opportunity to learn about the 'makings/ingredients of a casino'. It is very difficult for me to believe that residents of Maine would say no to this outstanding opportunity. An opportunity to grow; to become educated and above all to bring revenue into your own pocket by providing you with a comfortable place for employment. from South Paris, Maine by Sally
Comment: Maine needs jobs, and the taxes, along with other benefits to the state outweigh the negatives. from Portland, Me by Robert
Comment: We need more jobs for Mainers. from Biddeford by carlie
Comment: I would say this is a bad idea, but this state doesn't give real industry any insentive to set up shop, so bring in the casino's. from East Boothbay by Dale
Comment: Its funny how many bigots are in this state. When the passamaquoddies wanted one you voted no. But now because the economy is down it makes it right? Do you also know that this casino is putting a moratorium on any others for ten years after they get theirs! from Raymond by David
Comment: i believe that the casino would be great for this state and i voted yes everytime that it has come up I truly don't think that it would bring more crime it would be a great thing for maine people from N Waterboro by Lisa
Comment: I think it is lousy to continue to tell those in Washinton County they cannot have a casino then build one in Bangor and vote to build one in Oxford also. from Poland by Gerry
Comment: it shold of pass last time they say big guns in casino are helping well big guns of out of staters trying to stop it are here also last time most of the people who lobied to stop it were from out of state from saco by normand
Comment: YES of course, It will bring badly needed jobs with benifits, a great place to stay, great resturants, and great entertainment which this area has none. For all of you who say no WHY?? We can not be overseers for the poor everyone has to be responsible for there own behaver. from Bridgton ME by Joan
Comment: why keep letting everyone go to CT. KEEP THE MONEY IN ME!!!! from Lebanon by Lynne
Comment: yes,Yes, Come on Folks. If not here in Maine they will go somewhere else.We need the work and the income that will be generated. Look at the Scratch tickets at every corner store, gas station, our Governor gets that money for the state. Let's not vote this down. Think Positive, about this. Remember, people who want to gamble will find other places to go. from Saco, Me by Joe
Comment: I would vote yes as long as they are going to give all these jobs to people here & not bring their own staff. Oxford could certainly use the jobs. from Oxford, Me by Susan
Comment: It would bring and keep revenue to the state. There are so many people that are traveling to CT and spending their money there. Why not keep it here where we need it the most! from Westbrook by Becky
Comment: I would!..But why is it that when us Native Americans try to opeen one it never even makes it this far. There is defintley racisim in this state. from Portland / Maine by Dan
Comment: I don't think a casino should be broght to Oxford county because I think it wiuld cause more problems then it would bring help to the area. from Auburn, Maine by Sue
Comment: We need Jobs! by Debbie
Comment: I agree with Wendell from Oxford. No casino. Too much crime into our great state. We need to find other ways of helping to raise our economy, not gambling. The advertisment on TV says the average job pays $33,000. Most of the 'average' workers will be making $15,000 to $17,000 a year. Vote no, please. from Wells by Betty
Comment: DEFINETLY!!!! I think it would be wonderful!! from DURHAM, ME by E
Comment: very depressed area in need of jobs why keep sending money out of state when this state is in such dire straits from thomaston maine by william
Comment: NO! It's typical of Americans to try the "easy, faster fix", instant gratification, if you will. A casino can never and will never solve any economic problems! Do your homework, people and stay away from the slots.......they don't call it the "one-armed bandit" for nothing. Duh? from Lisbon by Doris
Comment: Maine has enough struggling families. This would just be further temptation for people with addictive natures to cause their personal/family finances to collapse. from Lisbon, Maine by Cassie
Comment: I get such a kick out of these holier than though people that say gambling is wrong and if we have a casino we will have problem gambling. Wake up people!! The Maine state lottery is STATE SPONSORED gambling..please play responsibly, harness racing is gambling, bingo is gambling. The only industry we have left in this economically pathetic state is tourism, lets "cash" in on it. Anyone want to go to hollywood slots this weekend? from Brunswick by Cody
Comment: This is NOT "Maine, the way life should be." from Waterville, Me. by Patty
Comment: Unbelievable, people are crying now the economy is worst its been in a long time, another casino to throw money away is outragious. I thought people were broke ! from Sabattus, ME by Stephen
Comment: Bringing a casino to Maine would help our faltering economy. People leave the state everyday to gamble in other states why not keep the money here? from old orchard beach/maine by Barbara
Comment: NO NO NO from Raymond by Steve
Comment: No. Maine will build some small or medium size casino and its not worth it. I would vote "Yes" if they promised that it was going to be the size of Foxwoods with great attractions and interior resteraunts etc. from Maine by Eric
Comment: It is amazing that most people think about how many jobs will be created. So are you willing to work for minimum wage or tips with few to no benefits, they make more on employment and state aid. So who will take the jobs? Migrant/Immigrant labor, you know like the 400 that just got laid off in the CT area. These are the types of jobs that result in high social service programs on a local and state level. Don't you think we already have enough of those jobs and types in this state? from SP by S
Comment: I think we are crazy to turn down an opportunity to bring jobs, and an excellent source or tax revenue to a depressed area like Oxford. Bring it, you have my vote. from New Gloucester by Steve
Comment: I don't understand why at this time the people of Maine would turn this down. Mainers need jobs, we have lost so many, and putting these people to work just may decrease our state budget of unemployment, food stamps, and Medicaid. I am for this and will support it. from Lisbon, Maine by Janice
Comment: I feel bad that Washington County was turned down but....So many busses are taking Mainers to Foxwoods and Monhegan every day.I think we should keep the revenue here in Maine.More jobs, more money> from Westbrook, ME by June

Comment: It's exactly what we need. Money, Jobs, and I don't have to drive to Connecticut. It's no surprise the ski industry objects, if there is something else to do people will realize that skiing is expensive, cold, and not that fun. from Bridgton, ME by Art
Comment: Yes If people don"t want to go to the casino stay away.I feel everyone should be able to go to it if they want . by Nancy
Comment: Maine needs the economic boost and jobs that the casino will bring. Let's keep Maine Money in Maine instead of sending it to CT!!!! from Maine by P
Comment: This state needs the influx of jobs and money. Any of the excuses I have heard against the casino are nothing more than ignorant ones. Vote yes on 2! People never seem to mind the Hannafords, Burger Kings, and McDonalds that bring in minimum wage jobs. by Shonn
Comment: would like to have a casino here. don't go a lot but it would make more sense to have it my own State by alice
Comment: Maine does not need a casino! There are other ways to get jobs going. I think in really tough times like this people are desparate and will take anything. We have enough drug, alcohol, and money problems. We do not need a casino which can intensify these problems. This is a beautiful state so why ruin it with all the problems that a casino can cause? And just think of the congested traffic! I vote NO on 2! from Auburn by Coleen
Comment: I voted no when they wanted to put it in Sanford and I'll vote no again! Maine don't need this type of bussiness!!! I agree that we need more jobs in maine and the renvnue that it would bring BUT....... It would be dirty money and I'm willing to bet that it would mean more of MY tax dollars (people on welfare going to gamble)going down the drain! Comment: yes! tax money for maine is needed jobs are not coming this would bring jobs, money what maine needs. from Gardiner by Thomas
Comment: With the amount of potential revenue for the state, county and town how can the people of Maine continue to vote this down. Also the expected job increase is a huge boost to the area. Maine is loosing jobs everyday it’s time to move forward with a casino in Maine and I will be voting in favor of the proposed casino. from Oxford by Tom
Comment: this state needs the money n oxford needs the jobs from maine by debbie
Comment: Absolutely!! by M
Comment: The area really needs jobs and Maine needs more income revenue, not taxes. from Raymond by Mary
Comment: People don't realize how desperate the area is for new jobs. I don't believe the promise of high paying jobs as they will probably transfer their current employees but I bet they will need a fair amount of Maine workers. Out of state visitors will bring money to more then the casino.I do not want the legal age limit for working in a casino to be lowered, if that would happen I would be against it. by Brenda
Comment: Yes! Yes! But ski areas don't want the competition and the Portland area wants it for themselves. Don't be so selfish...we all need economic help at this point. It would be yet another aspect of "Vacationland". from Norway by Linda
Comment: I live in oxford county n yes we need this ..for you no goers you dont have to go there but i bet most of you will end up there 1 time or another even if its to see what it looks like,,stop telling people where they have to go to spend there money they spend it here or some where else i thought america was a free country from oxford maine by debbie
Comment: The State needs the money/revene and we need the jobs!!! from Jefferson ME by Tina
Comment: sure why not? It does not mean you going to be forced to go there and spend your money. Let them build it, staff it, and give some people a chance (bad word)of employment in these difficult times. from woolwich by dennis
Comment: We didn't allow the tribes to have one, we shouldn't allow a rich company from Vegas to have one. by Christopher
Comment: The scratch ticket addicts will be out of control with their new drug. That area is already poor adding $10/hr jobs wont revive it. by Poo
Comment: Absolutely! Why should Ct get our revenue? If this creates jobs and brings money to the community..lets do it! from Albany by Theresa
Comment: Maine needs the revenue and the jobs. Period. from portland/ME by Darren
Comment: Maine needs new jobs and tourism. Many of my friends take their money down to Foxwoods to spend and gamble. That is money falling out of the Maine economy. Without new industry Maine will continue to wither and die. from South Portland, ME by Micah
Comment: I think a casino would be great for the state of Maine and for the people of Oxford County. from Portland,Maine by Norman
Comment: I really believe that we need to bring as many jobs to Maine as possible. We have made it difficult for our lobster fisherman and commercial fisherman to make a living and continue their lively hood, therefore any way to bring more jobs would be best. from Portland, ME by ';-Dee
Comment: More JOBS!! from Limington by Flloyd
Comment: Isn't there enough evil in the state already? by b
Comment: We need the jobs and the business. They are going to gamble. Let it be in Maine. Let the Indians upcountry in on it too. by meredith
Comment: 100 million of maine dollars spent in connecticut the last 3 years-Mainers enjoy the entertainment and gambling from scarborough by Jeff
Comment: I think if this passes it will be a big slap in the face to the Native American Tribes in Maine who have tried to do this 3 times already. I will go as far to say if this passes a lot of the failed attempts from before were about race and nothing more. from Portland Maine by Troy
Comment: cause i think a casino would help the people of maine for some work it would put the people off the street and put money in there pocket. from biddeford,me. by doris
Comment: We might as well keep the tax dollars in Maine instead of sending it to Connecticut. The extra jobs for the area will help too. Maine needs some changes. Lets learn from some of the other states that have done it. from Auburn by Neal
Comment: 1. We need jobs! That money would greatly help the severely depressed economy in Western Maine. 2. Now all of the gambling money is going out of State to Casinos elsewhere. If a casino were in Oxford some of the money would stay in Oxford, Oxford County and the State of Maine in the form of taxes and percentage of income. 3. People are going to gamble somewhere. It might as well be here. 4. This will bring in much more than just gambling money. There will be more stores, restaurants, lodging and other services and suppliers. Many new businesses will spring up to handle all of this. 5. Yes, our way of life is going to change. But what we are doing now isn't working. People in Maine are finding it more and more difficult to make ends meet. They are leaving Maine in large numbers to earn a higher standard of living out of state. from Norway by Tere
Comment: Mo MONEY by Scott
Comment: Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!!! from South Paris by Greg
Comment: Yeah, Maine needs more $10/hr jobs to boost our economy. We should also propose building Wal-Marts in every city in Maine, cause that would be more jobs...right? from Westbrook, ME by Craig
Comment: Great for the State! from Sabattus, ME by Amedeo
Comment: Yes, Foxwoods is a long drive. Atleast Oxford is right around the corner. No more boredum either!! from Portland by Jrock
Comment: I used to live in Norway, got laid off and it took me 6 mos to find a good job that paid at least 30k.... I found one, in Cumberland county, then I moved back to Androscoggin county so that wouldn't happen again! My family would have stayed in Norway had it not been for the job market. from Lewiston, Me. by Mark
Comment: We live in a beautiful, but very poor state. Take a ride outside of Cumberland /York county (if you need to go that far) and you will see the abject poverty that gripes most of this state. It’s time to seek out other means of income for this extremely tax burdened state. If you disagree with gambling, don’t gamble. from Porter by Mike
Comment: yes definately! we need the jobs. from oxford/maine by kathleen
Comment: Absolutely, that is what this town needs, and Maine needs to come into the 20th century. from Norway by Jessica
Comment: Although I wish other options besides a casino were available to bring jobs to Oxford County, this is the best oportunity I have seen in years to bring in jobs and tax revenue. from Oxford County, Bryant Pond, Maine by Jeremy
Comment: Nobody can predict the future, with every decision there are pros and cons. Everyone is concerned about crime but it appears that drug use is the biggest issue in Maine and I believe that is because there is nothing for entertainment in Maine so people are bored and turn to drugs for recreation, bring in the Casino for revenue, jobs and something entertaining for Mainers to do. Bring in other places like Dave and Busters, Hooters instead of Mainers traveling out of state for fun let ther be fun in Maine. from Maine by Mercedes
