Who won the Vice Presidential debate?

50.24% Joe Biden
48.5% Sarah Palin

Comment: Joe Biden for president!

Comment: Biden spoke from his deep knowledge and experience. Palin simply regurgitated what she was spoon fed over the last week. Furthermore, she really didn't directly answer most of the questions. Rather, she simply spewed political babble. from Albany Township, ME. by Bruce

Comment: Folksy or not, the American people want straight talk from our politicians and Sarah Palin is the one to give it to us! from South Portland by Diane

Comment: Did Sarah Palin win the debate just because she did better than expected! NO WAY She is clearly not ready to lead in any arena. Her goofy remarks and silly faces turn my stomach. If I heard her say Alaska one more time I thought I would lose it. The USA could potentially become the laughing stock of the world with her as VP and God forbid President. Obama/Biden the clear choice for me. from Olathe, KS by Lori

Comment: She knocked it out of the ballpark, as far as I'm concerned! from Lisbon by Doris

Comment: Sarah knocked it outta the park from Old Orchard Beach / Maine by Bill

Comment: I believe that Sen. Biden stayed on topic while Gov. Palin seemed the need to compare herself to me as middle class yet her health care is paid for by tax payers and she doesn't have any worries each day of going to work and being told her business is being shut down, doesn't sound like any of my "middle" class friends from Wayne by Earle

Comment: Biden spoke from experience it appeared as though palin was most recently schooled. If something were to happen to the next president.....one of the people on the stage last night will be the leader of this country.are we better ogg with Biden?"YOU BETCHA" from bowdoin by harvey

Comment: Joe Biden answered the questions and tried to 'Debate' her. Palin failed to answer 90% of the questions and simply repeated her part line mantra. She was witty but witty doesn't solve national problems, it makes people feel insecure. from SP by S

Comment: Joe Biden spoke from experience, with respect and directness. He also answered the questions. Palin (who absolutely embarasses me as a woman in politics) 'read her lines' as instructed, played all the tricks she was 'taught' for public speaking (love the winks!) ... but doesn't have a clue what she is talking about! As one commentator said after the debate - she's was like an automated cartoon character. It is very scary to think that in this day and age, a person like Palin would even be considered for the Vice Presidency ... I am outraged at the lack of intelligence and the amount of ignorance displayed! We've already experienced 8 years of that ... from Newfield, Maine by Lee Ann

Comment: Sarah did better than expected, but if you were coached for days, by Republican advisors, any "joe 6 pack" could have answered the same way. from Westbrook, ME by Robin

Comment: Sarah needs to answer the questions that were asked instead of going off on some tangent. Being down home is one thing when your in Podunk, but we have some world issues that need to be resolved quickly. No detailed plans, sounds like "Stay the course" to me. from portland,me by paul

Comment: Definitely Biden, Clearly, Sarah Palin is not VP material. She just didn't know the facts. "Joe 6 pack" and "yer darn right right" isn't acceptable Vice Presidential terminology.. I don't think I could bear to listen to "nuclear" being mispronounced for another 4 years!! I would be most uncomfortable if she were running this country. from Lebanon, ME by Beckie

Comment: Palin no doubt gives Mccain a boost! We need a woman to help run our country ! from Norway by Annie

Comment: I felt that Sarah Palin avoided given any real answers to the questions that where asked. I was very turned off by her winking, acting all folkys and trying to act as though she was "one of us". Sorry Ms. Palin you are nothing like me....I can name the newspapers that I read. from Windham by Lisa

Comment: I felt if Pailin said "ALSO" one more time I wanted to turn it off. God help us should she become #1. I am an OBAMA supporter and a registered republican. from Corinna, ME by Alice

Comment: without a question, Joe Biden. It was very clear that Palin only dodged questions, and those that she did answer, she was heavily coached. from Saco by Joan

Comment: I think she was fantastic last night and she is going to be an asset to this country when she wins Vice President from Portland,Maine by shannon

Comment: No contest. She did better than expected but expectations were low for her. Senator Biden is clearly more ready for the job and stressed that this is the most important election in history. We can't take risks right now and Sarah Palin is just not ready!!! Also, she said she wanted to expand the duties of the VP position. It's very scary to me to think that she could be in this position! from Scarborough by Terry

Comment: It doesn't matter, there is no way i will vote for a democrat. That's not saying that I like Macain, another election where we have to pick the lesser of two evils. from sanford by Jay

Comment: Pailn handlers did a good job Pailn still clueless

Comment: Now Saturday Night Live can show Sarah Palin as a true American------and Joe Biden with some of his BIG gaffes--like "stand up Chuck" ! How about a little balance in ALL reporting for a change! from Naples, ME by William

Comment: she didn't act like a vice presidential canadate, she acted more like an acter that was very rehersed, with all the winking. from greene, me by philip

Comment: John McCain knows how to pick a wolf in hockey mom's clothing doesn't he? My opinion of him picking Sarah Palin, would be because she appeals to men (the woop woop factor)and hockey/soccer moms! We seriously need change in America and the McCain-Palin ticket would present us with a 4 year extension of the current Bush administration unfortunately. from Portland by John

Comment: Gov. Palin played off her script, it was frustrating to listen to her. Sen Biden answered each question directly and did so respectively. from Wilton, ME by Jen

Comment: she is more a down to earth canadate then a die hard washington liberal who wants to raise your taxes from whitefield by philip

Comment: She was very well spoken and i like the fact that she is new and doesn't have a lot of time in washington DC to taint her. from lisbon, falls by Leo

Comment: Biden by default. Palin lacks any real specifics and spends too much time trying to be "folksy". That just comes off as fake more than sincere. from Windham by Shawn

Comment: Sarah Palin came across as coached & rehearsed, while Joe Biden seemed knowledgeable & experienced. from Augusta by Theresa

Comment: I believe that Sarah Palin spoke very well was true on her beliefs and told us what she would do to help our economy and our country. I believe Joe Biden told us what he would do to help our country as well, but he was also more on putting down Mckain then telling us what they can do for our country. by Sarah

Comment: doesn't matter - people dwell too much on the VP's when it is the presidential contenders that matter the most from Windham by David

Comment: she is just awesome-I love her, she's smart, sincere, honest, and one of us, not yet tainted by the big boys!! from Scarborough, Me by Eileen

Comment: Sarah did a great job. Being an independent voter since the primaries ended, and being a woman I will probably vote for the only woman on the ticket. She is smart, articulate and a straight talker. from Skowhegan Me. by Maureen

Comment: When I saw her speech before I loved what she had to say. She was real! But after watching last night I'm having my doubts. She didn't answer all the questions and that made me think well maybe she is not ready to help lead our country in this time of crisis. Also I here a lot about the "middle class" but what about the "low class" like my family, who are trying to make living on or close to minimum wage? I wish I was "middle class" but I'm not so what are they going to do for me? from Lewiston by Jessica

Comment: They both did well, but I feel we got a good chance to learn more about Sara Palin and she did very well in this new situation. It is good to see someone from a working family in this position from Friendship, Me by Lee

Comment: Sarah Palin seems nice and even fun but she did not answer the questions. from Lewiston
