The owner of the Porthole admits they needed to make changes at the restaurant, and that they've already fixed a lot of the problems. Now, he has to make sure it stays that way.
It’s been a tough couple of days for Oliver Keithly and his staff at the Porthole. They spent 48 frantic hours cleaning and fixing problems pointed out by a city health inspector. The city shut down the Porthole, and Oliver Keithly's two adjoining businesses last week for several violations. The most serious problem, a rat infestation. According to a follow up inspection, though, most of those problems are now fixed. Keithly says they still have issues they need to address. They're getting a pest management plan in place to keep rats and bugs away, as well as better kitchen maintenance.
Keithly will meet with the city again next week to make sure they're still on track with all of the changes and make sure everything stays up to code.
