President Barack Obama on Tuesday signed disaster declaration ordering federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in areas affected by the Feb. 8-10 storm that dropped up to 30 inches of snow in parts of the state.
Federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and some nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis in every county except Coos and Grafton.
Gov. Maggie Hassan said Tuesday that the statewide cost was estimated to be nearly $5 million.
She says February's storm put a significant strain on local communities, and the ongoing winter weather has pushed snow removal budgets to the limits.
