Latifa Sweri is planning to head back to the country she was born in to be with her family in the middle of harm’s way, the north African country of Libya, where her parents and brother are currently living in. She was there this summer, visiting family and got a chance to meet U.S. Ambassador Chris Stephens who was killed in the September 11th attack of the U.S. consulate in Libya.
Happy to be back on American soil, Sweri is making plans to head back to Libya. Her father back home is suffering from stage four terminal cancer and she wants to see him one last time. Sweri says she isn't sure when she's returning to Libya but her trip could happen as early as next week. She says while she's doesn't feel fully safe returning, she is encouraged by the recent development since the attack on the U.S. consulate.
The Libyan government attacked terrorist compounds last Friday, seizing control and driving out some of those terrorists. She’s hoping for the best for her native country and hoping she safely gets to see her dying father.
