They touched on taxes, immigration and free-trade, but one of the most important issues for manufacturers, is health care. King says he supports the affordable care act, but wants make sure it really is affordable. Summers wants to repeal it, and go back to the drawing board. The audience was all ears.
We caught up with democratic candidate Cynthia Dill, even though she couldn't be at the debate, to hear her take on manufacturing in Maine and the U.S. The debate was friendly, but the ads surrounding the campaign aren't as nice.
We also spoke to the U.S. senate candidates about the attack on Americans in Libya. Each of Maine's senate candidates tells us how they would respond, if they were in congress.
Angus King: Let's find out exactly what happened, let's find out what caused it, let's find out how we can keep a tragedy like this, outrage like this, from happening again.
Charlie Summers: I think it initially means sanctions, and going through the proper diplomatic channels, but we cannot have anyone whether its an ambassador or any of our U.S. citizens threatened around the world.
Cynthia Dill: I think we have to be very careful about what we say because the situation in Libya is very fragile, given the political history of that country, and make sure we get the facts.
