We are told the shark was first sighted by a boater on Monday, who says they saw the shark swimming in the water right around these docks very close to shore. And most recently it was spotted at the end of a dock Tuesday, and the recent sightings have many people here keeping an eye on the water.
It's described as being six feet long and was swimming near the boats in the marina. The shark has been seen several times by other boaters in just the past few days. Some say it could be a blue shark or a porbeagle, which are no stranger to waters along the Maine coastline. Whatever type it is, it’s definitely bringing a sense of excitement for those who have seen it.
We did send a copy of the photo to the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, who as of right have not being able to positively identify what type of shark it is that was spotted here in the water.
