Mrs. Bush sat down with her daughter Doro in a packed atrium this morning for story time with about 20 children and their families. She also entertained the children with the help of her pint sized pooch, Mini Me.
The story hour provided a much needed escape for these special patients and for parents who simply hope their children will get the chance to live full lives. They say the first lady's visit was uplifting.
Mrs. Bush also stayed to sample some lemonade from 5-year-old Nolan Murray's lemonade stand. Nolan is at the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital waiting for a heart transplant. He hopes to raise money with the stand for the therapy dogs who visit the children there.
