Investigators say they are not sure just how long the alleged prostitution operation had been in place. They do believe it was operating out of several locations, including this dance studio on york street here in Kennebunk. They also believe it was run by Alexis Wright and Mark Strong.
Authorities have arrested Strong and charged him with promotion of prostitution. Court documents allege Strong was screening clients and acting as a pimp for the prostitution. Investigators say the confiscated detailed records of clients, videos of sex acts with those clients that were recorded without their consent in private sessions at the Pura Vida Dance Studios.
The woman who runs the business, Alexis Wright, has been promoting herself as a Zumba instructor. Court documents suggest wright was making sex videos with her clients, and with Strong. As of Wednesday, she has not been charged with a crime while Strong has.
Former Cumberland County Prosecutor Paul Aranson says it’s hard to say who might be prosecuted in this case. He says the videotaping of sex acts without a person's consent could lead to invasion of privacy charges. He also says prosecutors could go after those on the sealed client list.
Investigators say there is still an open investigation as to what may have been happening here. They also say that additional charges and arrests are likely.
