Portland city councilors voted unanimously to allow food trucks, but with a few conditions. From 6 in the morning to 10 at night, food trucks must park on the fringes of the old port, away from restaurants and hotels.
However, from 10 at night to 6 in the morning, food trucks can go anywhere they want, as long as they're 65 feet away from restaurants and hotels. Some local restaurateurs, though, believe food trucks will pull customers from their downtown restaurants, but others think food trucks will only add to the flavor of the old port.
Portland food truck operators must pay an annual license fee of $500. And if they plan to operate late night or overnight, an additional fee of $60 will be charged.
