Those sharks were spotted off Wallis Sands State Beach in Rye, New Hampshire, just south of the Maine border, and about 25 miles south of popular York Beach. According to a lifeguard the sharks were about six feet long. Park officials are trying to determine what kind of sharks they were.
This comes just two days after a kayaker in Cape Cod came face to face with a great white shark. He says he suddenly saw people looking his way, and screaming at him. When he looked behind him he says he found a great white shark following his kayak. He says all he could do was paddle desperately to shore, which he did, narrowly escaping the shark.
The man in the kayak actually re-assured his daughter before going out on the water that the chances of him running into a shark were very small.
Officials say the warmer temperatures and an increased seal population are the reason behind an increase in sharks at the beach.
