The Knox County Regional Airport Manager, Jeffrey Northgraves, says a pick-truck was crossing the runway in Owls Head around 5 p.m. when a Cessna 174 with three people on board crashed into the truck, caught fire and burst into flames. All three people on board the plane died. Northgraves says the plane then went into the woods, about 200 yards off the runway.
The condition of the pick-up truck driver is unclear.
Northgraves says the driver of the truck was a pilot who had just put his plane away.
The FAA and NTSB are expected to investigate.
